South Korea will shut off computers to stop employees from overworking

The government is trying to curb their culture of working overtime. In it first of three phases, it has mandated that federal employees must stop by 8:00 p.m. on Fridays
South Koreans work some of the longest hours in the world - with government employees clocking an average of 2,739 hours per year, around 1000 more than workers in other developed countries which have an average of 1,763, according to Yonhap.
This story was seen on ZeroHedge. They got it from Yonhap.

But let's see, 2739 / 52 = 52.68 hours a week and 1763 / 52 = 33.9 hours a week.

What? Loafers. That's 6 hours a week less than Americans, and that add up, you know. 6 hours a week X 52 weeks = 312 hours less each year that other developed countries work than Americans.

I always hear overwork was driving Japanese office workers crazy. I did not know South Korea does too.

The next phase moves the time down a notch.

The article goes on to say 67% of government employees asked to be exempted from the new policy.

What's taking these workers so long to get the job done? Why are they so slow?

I saw a television show about young Japanese men using their vacation time to see what life is like on an American ranch. They wanted to be cowboys. When interviewed they all agreed they had been taught that Americans are lazy but work on the ranch was surprisingly challenging. They went home with newfound respect.

That's how I feel too. I've been having groceries delivered just to spare myself the massive pain in the butt of doing it myself. I get quite a lot. You could rightfully call me lazy. Two of the deliveries were by women and one by an old man. All three of them work very hard physically. They have to really put their bodies into it. Loading their vehicle, driving, unloading, transporting through doors, down hallways, up elevators, more hallways, unloading again, returning the horizontal dolly to the vehicle, then more deliveries like that up to several of those a day. I'm not used to seeing that. Respect

Are they working or just watching porn? Or perhaps they have more living space at work than at home.
