Many Easters Ago...

...we used to attend Easter Sunrise service on top of this nearby monadnock - in fact, that mountain, such as it is, was the view out of the picture window of our house.

Afterward we would go to a nearby firehouse for breakfast - eggs, bacon, home made sticky rolls then top that off with the candy and hard boiled eggs from the Easter basket - those were the days - could eat all that and never grow large.

Even before I lost my favorite aunt and uncle around Easter, I never got into it.

Glad you have good memories.

Is that Sugarloaf?

That is Sugarloaf - AKA Stronghold. We spent a lot of time on that mountain when we were young - we would ride our bikes over to it, hike on it, hang around on the Civil War cannons, dodge the copperheads - it was a wonderful place to hang out.

One of my favorite places to hike. The view from the top is wonderful, but getting there is quite a workout. I have to admire anyone who'd do that in the dark, for Easter. The last quarter-mile or so is literally a staircase.

We used to do Easter Sunrise at Rocky Gorge Reservoir.

We used to go to that gorge back in the day - down in Horrid county, as we called it. I grew up closer to the intersection of Monkey county Carroll county and Howard county - out near the so-called "Long Corner" of Hard county. Good times, good times...
