KLEM TV

link

The confluence of Halloween and local Dodger-mania led me to post this.

If you watch the full episode,* there is a brief cameo by Elroy "Crazylegs" Hirsch at the very end. Hirsch was a native Wisconsinite who played football for the UW-Badgers and went on to play professionally for the LA Rams. He was then GM for the Rams during the Munster era. He returned to Wisconsin to head athletics at the UW in 1969 up until 1987 which is when (and where) I became familiar with him.

I just read a bio of Durocher that was pretty good. Leo Durocher: Baseball's Prodigal Son. He was an asshole, gambler, grifter. Great glove, no hit journeyman infielder.

My mother-in-law was a high school classmate of Elroy in Wausau, WI. He ran the UW football program into the depths when he was AD. Another local guy, Pat Richter, took over from Elroy, hired Barry Alvarez, and the program has soared since.

@rcommal: Thanks!

Don Williams is a "downpointer." Other famous downpointers are Keith Richards and Bob Dylan.

Ships crossing in the night: Theme of our times.

Didn't mean to step on your thanks, Chickelit. Wasn't expecting it, and was intent on injecting a bit of my own sense of humor. I wasn't paying attention, and I am sorry for that.

Thank *you*, Chickelit

Thanks again! That was a blast from the past. I knew the song but don't think I ever saw the video.

I was just thinking about you the other day. How are you doing?

Chickelit: Seriously,thank you. I miss having someone who gets the wide array of music that I know, appreciate, get and even love (even when, sometimes, I don't necessarily *like* any one given specific piece of music). I miss that.
