Time: Locals had started a Facebook group in the hopes of getting rid of the statue sculpted by Dave Poulin, at the time calling a “nightmare.” The new bronze statue depicts Ball in a polka-dot dress.
“Well, it’s been quite a ride,” Schrecengost said at the ceremony, according to the AP. “A little over a year ago, we got beat up pretty good.”

Why'd they even pay for that dreck in the first place? If you paid for a Lucy statute and that showed up would you pay for it? But the public officials, playing with public money, just went ahead and paid the bill. So easy to waste other peoples' money.
This king of thing should be done by the private sector.
The before "Lucy" looks like an unholy mating of a human and a sleestak.
Agree with Amartel. The whole incident reminds me of this.

Golly Ned, it even looks like her.
Sleestak
I liked your reference Leland!
Waste not, want not. Put a different hairstyle on the original and Voila, Scary Michelle makes you eat what's good for you.
Portrait sculpture is difficult. Invariably the sculptor puts some of his own face into the work. Check the MLK sculpture on the Mall - it was carved by some Chinese slave and it shows - anyone who ever saw MLK and then sees the sculpture goes - wtf - did not know he was a chinaman.
Same with this sculpture - take a popular public figure, hire an inexperienced sculptor with no real talent or insight, next thing you know - bam, Land of the Lost. And given what the finished work looks like, I really don't want to see a picture of the sculptor.
