Religion Neutral Bathroom

"Storm of controversy over sign banning Muslim staff from washing their feet in city office public toilet before their daily prayers"
An anonymous building worker has sparked outrage by placing a sign on the men's toilet of a Sydney city office block in an attempt to ban Muslims from washing their feet in the sink before their daily prayers.

The sign, which has a cartoon of a man with one of his feet in a sink and surrounded by a circle with a slash through it, was placed on the door of the men's toilet of an office block on Pitt Street, in Sydney's business district.
The sign is believed to have gone up on Wednesday, just days after a building worker queried one of the shop workers who use the toilet.

The 26-year-old Pakistan native, who is studying in Australia to fulfill his late mother's dream, said earlier this week he went as usual to the first floor men's room to do his pre-prayer ablutions prior to Dhuhr, the prayer just before midday which currently falls at 11.52am.
He said that, as was the custom, he washed his hands, his mouth, his head and his neck, as well as his arms, and then placed his feet one at a time into one of the men's rooms' two sinks.

It would be more comfortable for this guy to use a ponchera.

It's funny the translation for 'ponchera' is punchbowl. But where I come from 'poncheras' are used for everything but punch.

The world is one confusing punchbowl.

Why did the Aussie government let them in? Why does our government let them in? What's with governments that they welcome this dreck?

There are a lot worse things than feet washing going on in public restrooms. What goes on in there is nobody's business. I only care how long you stay and how you leave it. When I was homeless in the early eighties I would wash my whole body in a McDonald's restroom, so I can't judge, but I always left it at least as clean as I found it. I'm proud and surprised that I have never had sex in one.

I don't know where it is, but the constitution forbids prayer in the bathroom.

I'm sure i heard that on NPR ;)

We are supposed to accommodate Muslims no matter what they want, never insult them, and if we do, it justifies their killing of us.

Seems like a good deal.

That guy in the picture - I wonder if his head hurts. If it does then Jimmy Buffett wrote a song about him.

I admire this healthy helpful custom brought us by our desert brothers. Fine then, cousins.

Who otherwise we'd just as strangle, but this one thing I do admire.

Even Jesus and the other Mary did this with hair instead of a washcloth and that right there is just crazy but they had basins and water already drawn for that purpose. This custom, desert people, nice clean feet that get attention multiple times a day impresses me greatly.

It's dust and sand, they're in sandals and they must.

Only because it connect with the other thing that impressed me greatly, the sudden awareness that American men don't do this. Do you ever see them in their sandals in summer? Jesus Christ! Ever see them with sock? Don't laugh. If they took off their socks it'd be worse. That one guy in a summer fair crowd did it, because the bird on his arm was so adorable and I couldn't imagine how she tolerated my heart went out to her as they passed by, and he much taller than her and his feet were horrendous on sight you go "OMFG! WHAT DID I JUST SEE? cartoon ugly yellow overgrown claw toenails or what? "

So, those two things together established contrast and I must say that I fall towards the Islamists on this one.

They're big on washing, and so are Americans, but more so, but no mention of grooming. I figure with so much attention on public foot washing then foot grooming comes naturally whereas, cases of athlete's foot, toe fungus, and such will be identified immediately. Americans are private so nobody to ridicule their gross grooming into shape. That's entirely internal and sometimes fails and never fails for the Muslims. Foot grooming, Islam win.

Why aren't people who flee from Muslim lands considered anti-Muslim bigots? Sure there's the odd massacre and the occasional stoning but, by and large, people there live in peace and submission to God's will. A man who truly loves Islam stays within its precincts and loves his neighbors. This man is an obvious anti-Muslim bigot and should forwith be deported. Australia is no place for anti-Islamic bigots.
