To my eye, ESPN is going the way of MTV. NCAA Football season is starting, so they might start showing more sports. However, whenever I see ESPN, such as at a sports bar, it is always showing news or ESPN:30 or :60. I rather watch rock, paper, scissors than PTI. At least there is some challenge and unpredictability with Rock, Paper, Scissors, not so with Around the Horn.
We have a CBS affiliated local Root Sports channel. It only covers the local NBA, MLB, and MLS franchises then the occasional small college or HS event. I'm more likely to find a live sporting event on that channel than on ESPN, which has the entire world of sports to find original entertainment. And don't tell me ESPN doesn't have the budget to cover the odd live sporting event.
