"Peaceful rallies in Ferguson give way to violence, gunfire"

St. Louis County Police Chief Jon Belmar said the unidentified man, believed to be in his mid-20s, was hospitalized in critical and unstable condition."
Speaking to reporters at a predawn news conference on Monday, Belmar estimated that more than 40 rounds had been unleashed in what he called "a remarkable amount of gunfire."
"These were criminals; they weren't protesters," he said of the shooters. "There is a small group of people out there that are intent on making sure that we don't have peace that prevails."
At least three officers were injured in the melee, one struck in the face with a brick hurled from the crowd and two others pepper-sprayed by protesters, Belmar said.
A member of the local news media was also robbed and assaulted in a nearby parking lot amid Sunday night's turmoil, during which police reported making five arrests.
Separately, two teenage males were shot early on Monday in a drive-by attack near a sidewalk shrine erected in Brown's memory beside the spot where he was killed, but their wounds were not considered life-threatening, police said...
The scene changed dramatically after dark. Dozens of protesters converged on West Florissant Avenue, which bore the brunt of last summer's rioting, and chanted: "Shut it down" in the midst of a severe thunderstorm.
A phalanx of helmeted police wearing body armor and carrying shields moved in. Protesters briefly fell away before regrouping to confront the line of officers, who ordered them to disperse.
The protesters, locking arms and edging closer to the police cordon, began throwing water bottles and shouting: "We are ready for war!" Both sides held their ground while clergy members and activists appealed for calm.
Bursts of gunfire shattered the face-off, sending police crouching behind their patrol cars and demonstrators scurrying for cover. Helicopters whirred overhead as additional police armed with assault rifles swarmed the area, some roaring down the street in armored vehicles in the direction of the gunfire.
Merchants, some armed, stood guard outside their businesses early Monday after the disturbances, which unfolded around the corner from where Brown was gunned down on Aug. 9, 2014, by officer Darren Wilson.

Not yet but we're getting there, climbing that "go tell it on the mountain" mountain step by step.
"Peaceful rallies" is a progressive euphemism for "riots."
This is what the Obama plan to utilize "dispute impact" is going to bring to your town. By federal decree.
Hopefully, the next President will have better sense and un-decree it, else there will be a lot of corpses piled up because the cops didn't get there soon enough to save the thugs from the bitter clingers.
That's what The Donald's success this summer is all about.

Throw bricks, excrement, and insults at the police, and the media describes it as a "largely peaceful" protest. If any officer loses his composure under such circumstances, it's a sure bet that he will lose his job, and the media will interview his ex wife to further detail what an awful human being he is.......I despise the media more than the protesters although they're both extremely despicable.......I read the New Yorker article n Darren Wilson. The writer did a thorough and meticulous job of detailing all the challenges and flaws of Darren Wilson's life. About Michael Brown and his family not so much. The Brown family look like low lifes. I'm sure that that store clerk was not the first person Mike ever used his considerable bulk to strong arm. I'm sure that if you looked into the Brown family history you would find more lurid examples of domestic abuse than those of George Zimmerman. But the Brown family are treated like Mandela at an awards dinner, and Wlson is a latent racist, too dumb to never stand his own malignity.
NPR did a piece this weekend on how "hands up, don't shoot" is not accurate. Of course there was a discussion of the essential truthiness of these words, what with cops being the enemy of the people* and all, but just the mere acknowledgment on public radio that the slogan had no objective, actual truth in its original context indicates ... that Bernie Sanders' supporters are getting a little tired of the rude interruptions at their rallies.

There reason we didn't read that at the time is because it was just more black-on-black crime.
What I'm surprised we don't here more about was that savage attack on a Bosnian man in Ferguson last year; he was killed by four angry black guys with hammers. That one just went down the rabbit hole.
For the past six or seven years, justice was in the eyes of those who be Holder; I assume that Lynch favors the same mobs.
