A federal appeals court on Tuesday denied the Obama administration’s request to lift a hold on the president’s executive actions on immigration, which would have granted protection from deportation as well as work permits to millions of immigrants in the country illegally.
Two of three judges on a panel of the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, in New Orleans, left in place an injunction by a federal district judge in Brownsville, Tex. The ruling comes in a lawsuit by 26 states against actions President Obama took in November. Many of the initiatives were scheduled to take effect this month.
The appeals court found that Texas and the other states did have sufficient legal grounds to bring the lawsuit and that the administration had not shown it would be harmed if the injunction remained in the place and the programs were further delayed.

I love how all the Texas pubes are asking for a bailout from the federal government for the flooding, but wouldn't help New Jersey during Sandy. Not fiscally responsible nor pulling yourself up by your cowboy boot straps. They are all porkers-even Cruz is screaming for Federal Money!

I am not anti-immigrant (I'm married to one); I am just against open borders which seems to be the de facto Obama plan. I predict there will be broad bipartisan popular support for this, despite opposition from elected representatives of both parties.

That's because that particular relief bill was larded up with unrelated things like fixing the Smithsonian, funding for Head Start, grants to fund transsexual surgeries, and pet care subsidies for wealthy MA residents affected by Hurricane Sandy.
The relief bill was also larded up with requests from red state republicans-Texas receiving the most pork of any state with 75 pork projects. Oklahoma was next. The only reason it passed it because those porker red state pubes passed it with pork for their own district.

I suspect Titus is unaware that Oklahoma was declared a federal disaster area today, but not Texas. Just like he is also unaware that Texas provided direct support including literally opening homes to refugees of Hurricane Katrina. I guess Texas politicians are asking for money, but what I didn't see on the news was any Texans affected by the flood asking for money or looting the nearest CVS.
Pffft. Like Obama will obey the judges.
Doubtless, the Gray Lady is concerned we aren't going to be able to import all those Mexican slaves, after all.
To get more perspective on Titus tizzy, I decided to look up more information on the Hurricane Ike relief bill, which there was one, that provided some IRS tax relief to victims of the storm. Then there was a Hurricane Sandy bill that provided $9.7 billion to FEMA to cover additional flood insurance. This was followed by a larger Disaster Relief Appropriations Bill that excites Titus. In that Bill, $60 billion was appropriated to many different agencies to beef up infrastructure.
Now here's the deal, the Hurricane Ike Relief Bill was just that, a bill. It was never passed by Congress or seen by the President. On the other hand, two laws, plus two more amendments to the second law were passed to provide aid to Hurricane Sandy. I guess some Texas pols that since Ike was none event to Washington 4 years earlier, then why should they support the Sandy bill. They apparently then got some concessions. That's assuming Titus is honest and telling the truth with legitimate data.
By the way, its raining again in Houston with 3 to 4 inches more rain expected in the next 2 hours.
Here's the fortunate situation. If this is appealed to SCOTUS, Scalia will get the case. Serendipitously, he is the person in the rotation. When cases come into virtually any courthouse, they are assigned on a rotation.
There is also another important hearing today in the US House of Representatives v Burwell.
Scalia gets the option of having SCOTUS hear it, or say the ruling stands.
Apparently, if you live in a state beset by natural disaster but your senators don't toe the presidential party line, it's unreasonable to expect federal emergency management funds so just drown quietly.
Damn, the left is so ANGRY all the time.

I see I failed proof reading my previous comment. I meant to write "Texas pols thought since Ike was a".
By the way, Rita was coming ashore in Texas when the Hurricane Katrina Tax Relief Bill was passed. No relief bill was signed related to Rita. Parts of Texas devastated by Rita were declared a federal disaster by then President Bush, and by his action, people affected were given some relief from the IRS. This relief by the way is stuff like not having to get third quarter filing or deferred personal filings in on time or suffering a penalty. It also meant a little less scrutiny when claiming losses. But otherwise, it wasn't billions of dollars for infrastructure improvements.
Today's rain didn't prompt any new declarations from FEMA, but I'm sure Titus doesn't really care. And that's fine and his choice, but don't wonder then why Texans aren't supporting increased funding to Amtrak every time an engineer decides to drive too fast around a corner. It's not that we don't like New Englanders and mass transit; it's that we were taught by our betters to be self-reliant whenever a disaster occurs.
