I wonder why he imagines the shape he drew the only shape that works.
Or maybe he doesn't. It's just the shape he came up with that has a single step in it, or a curve and a step. It could be two curves, two steps, a zig zag, or even straight 45°. He had a lot of set up with his saw. It can be done without any were it not for his singular special shape. Are dowels so hard compared to that? So ineloquent? Biscuits? It's too bad he's not right here so I can ask him.
The whole time I was going inside, "WATCH YER FINGAS!"
I thought that it was a parody of a home improvement show. First go to he foundry and have them custom forge a rotary saw to the measurements and then go back and have the saw made a little larger because there's too much of a gap in the surfaces. That's so much easier than a dovetail joint.
I just saw this and this to me is an old technique called a miter fold. Some things look a little different about this one, but it's basically the same thing. However, if he does produce a blade with this profile I'd buy it.
