“It was completely a reaction to the drugs”

"The 23-year-old college graduate was in the midst of a two-week ski and snowboard vacation with family members. Saturday afternoon he and his cousin, Caleb Fowler, took a bus from Keystone to Silverthorne where Fowler says they bought $78 worth of edibles and marijuana."
“He was excited to do them,” Fowler told CBS4.

When the young men got back to Keystone, Fowler said they began ingesting the edible pot. He said his cousin favored some peach tart candies, each piece of candy containing 10 mg of the active ingredient in marijuana, the recommended dose for an adult consuming an edible.

But when Goodman consumed several and experienced no immediate effects he kept gobbling them up.

“Luke popped two simultaneously” after the first two didn’t seem to do anything, said Fowler.

Then he said Goodman took a fifth candy, five times the recommended dose.

When family members left the condo Goodman refused to join them. After they left he got a handgun that he typically traveled with for protection, and turned it on himself.

When I was in grade school the guy who used to play Superman on TV took LSD and jumped out a skyscaper window to his death because he thought he could really fly.

That's the problem with edibles. Inexperienced people feel nothing at first and then take too much before it starts to kick in. That never happens with smoking where the effect appears before you can consume too much.

Even experienced smokers make this mistake, maybe even more, because they don't fear the high they got from smoking which is never as intense as from edibles. The power of edibles is a surprise to them. Strong paranoia, and anxiety is a common effect.

Why is the identification as a college graduate relevant? If he doesn't have a job, then identify him as unemployed?

Legalization removes the barriers to usage, but it doesn't solve the fact that self-medication can often lead to negative results.

Everyone thinks it's just fun fun fun. Chemistry and dosage be damned.
Just pop some fun pills!

Comes up from Tulsa to ski, abuses our hard-fought, hard-won marijuana laws, our natural-born rights wrested back from government, unable to handle the freedom we all should have enjoyed from birth, AND abuses our hard-fought, hard-won gun laws, our natural-born rights wrested back from government, unable to handle the freedom we all should have enjoyed from birth.

What went wrong?

The same thing that caused the young man from Tulsa to lean his rented against the extravagantly hand-painted side of the neighboring van in the parking lot compacted with snow. That is, not knowing how to behave in Colorado. It's not for everybody. You can get killed just hiking as Dr. Fred was, hang gliding, as I nearly was, skiing, snowboarding, consuming strong marijuana in excess. For Christ's sake, doesn't anybody read Maureen Dowd?

Stay away, Tulsa, just stay away. Stay away until you grow up.

[Kim Goodman told CBS4 she believes marijuana edibles should be removed from store shelves.

“I would love to see edibles taken off the market … I think edibles are so much more dangerous.”]

Fuck you.

Go back to Tulsa. Abuse your own laws.

Let me guess. Reliably votes Democrat.

When you cloak drugs in food people are expecting the drugs to work instantaneously because they think that's how drugs are supposed to work because TV and pop culture. People are morons and when they ingest drugs, even more so.
