In morse code news, carrying a portable shortwave radio on the bike being the new mode, I heard a huge pileup on 15 meters, which means several dozen birdies attempting to contact something rare.
Unfortunately these days the protocol is just send your own call, without sending the call of the guy you're trying to reach, so the question is who is it.
Tuning around, a little lower in frequency, I find 9Q0HQ
What the hell is 9Q0?
In my day, the only 9-call was 9S4, which was the Saar. Few calls started with numbers. 4X4 for Israel was the quasi-common one.
Google knows, though. It's some expidition to the Congo. Hams that want to have lots of people calling them for once, get together and go someplace where there are no hams, and people call them because it's a rare country. You get a card, which I bet you have to pay for, certifying it. If you get a hundred countries, you get a certificate. You can keep count after a hundred, and try to get up with the leaders.
A bike rider however listens to the pile-up, for the callers' calls, from all over the world.

Just how bad is climate change? It is now having an impact on the sun, moon, and the equinox. OH! And Winter Weather Advisory!

Around here they normally spray the streets with some sort of adhesive pre-snow treatment but they didn't do it this time.
Maybe they ran out of the spray solution.
Maybe they anticipated that the snow that landed on the streets would melt on its own, which it did.
And the thick layer of life's eternal mysteries grows larger still.
Spring Forward
The air is cold
But the sun is higher,
So take a flyer --
Go bare! Go bold!
