"The government quickly said no..."

"Chile’s president meets with ailing teen who asked to die"

“I urgently request to speak to the president because I’m tired of living with this illness,” said the teenager, whose older brother died at age 6 from the same disease. “I want her approval so I can get a shot that will make me sleep forever.”

The right answer by the President, sympathy and care but caring enough to say no.

I am all for people controlling their lives (and the end of life). But as bad as CF is, there is hope for a few more years. Don't cater to despair.

I think back on Dean Barnett (who blogged with Hewitt at Town Hall) and his long fight with CF. He was a good man and I miss him. He was married and fought to the end.

Were the young lady to think about it some, I believe she would eventually come to realize that a life is like a garden, perfect moments can be had, but not preserved, except in memory.

Hats off to the President for at least showing up to see the young girl.
