Watched "The Interview" last night with the in-law family.
Very funny movie. A comedy farce.
I'm no prude. I've committed about every sin, including every sexual sin imaginable. The tendency of the kids' to throw the f-bomb in every sentence annoys and irritates me. Beware that you're going to get that in this movie.
I still can't decide whether all the hubbub about the Norks trying to censor the movie is just a very clever Hollywood PR campaign, or whether it is for real.
I'm glad to hear a good review of "The Interview". I have heard mostly bad reviews. If you put together the hubbub plus a patriotic response, and you can get a few positive reviews, you can have a movie that would gross triple what it was going to before.
I'm inclined to that patriotic/free speech warrior response myself, but if I continue to hear that it sucks, I lose my passion. I don't want to reward bad work. It would be great if the movie was really good in the tradition of great movie making of the past, but if it highlights our lowest tendencies, as is the custom now days, then that's really a lost opportunity for us. Then again, maybe it shows stronger dedication to free speech if we see it knowing it's bad. A voluntary act of martyrdom.
Speaking of movie reviews, I don't know anyone who's opinion I can count on. Certainly not professional reviewers - who match my view only about 50% of the time.
I don't want to see The Interview. Whether a PR stunt or not, it looks like they caved to terrorist demands. I will not give them my time. They should have stood strong and shoved it in NK's face. Then I would have made an honest effort to get out to a theater. Now, eff em.
