Joe Cocker, RIP

Joe Cocker passed away today.  He was 70 and had lung cancer.  Rest in Peace, Joe.  You had a great run.

Here's my Joe Cocker story.  The day I almost met Joe Cocker. Almost.

He's earned his place as an immortal with You Are So Beautiful. I've heard him sing that with no backup and only the slightest instrumental support and it's a complete grabber, every time.

Haz - lol. That's a funny story from 2012… though the comments were funnier, esp. the one about the tee shirt. And Brits actually tend to like their gardens and outdoor spaces… not that I know if they'd prefer that sort of real estate here but who knows. You can't be too presumptuous. I'd assumed Cocker was Irish, myself. Seems it's a Scottish or originally Celtic place-name, anyway, which South Yorkshire isn't too far to the south of.

Anyway, 70 is young. Sad news.

Hard working man. The fact that he let Belushi imitate him on the same stage told me he was OK.

Cocker got a whole new generation of lovers when The Wonder Years made his rendition of Help from my Friends their theme song.

Oh man, that is really sad. Sorry to hear and RIP Mr. Cocker. BTW, if you are reading this, You are so beautiful is one of my favorite songs ever.

The hubby and I are heading to Madison tomorrow for Christmas with my amazing parents and then to India for 10 days to visit his family. We will be in Mumbai, New Dehli and finally Darjeeling.

Sitting here tonight playing Joe Cocker on my Itunes and picking up Youtubes that I don't have....reliving my youth. Joe Cocker music was such a big part of my live.

You are so beautiful to me

A sad note from the melody of life.

I saw Joe live once, at Chapel Hill. Just an opening act then. Forget who was after.

He was fantistic, in the sense that you expected his lungs to appear on the stage at any moment.

Do tell. Have I told you lately how much I value your opinions :-)

It's all in the telomeres, Ari. ;-)

I think 250 years would be an ideal lifespan. Ironically even today, when things change so fast but still so predictably.
