MGM Comic Con London 2014 cosplay music video

These things get better every year. I've only been to one of these with a Trekie friend and it sure was fun.

There's a mildly unsettling exchange on The Big Bang Theory between Leonard and a girl he's just started dating. He met her at the comic book store. She is a comic book artist who looks like Minnie Driver with far too many piercings.

She has her portfolio and she is showing him some of her drawings.

LEONARD: That's you having sex with a guy in the top half of a Chewbacca costume. Comic Con?

ARTIST GIRL: You'd think, but no.

Played for laughs but I found the reference to casual, recreational, anonymous sex disturbing. I guess I can be a bit of a bluenose every now and then.

I did laugh at some of that scene. Leonard and the girl start making out and he has to stop because he feels pangs of guilt for cheating on his steady girlfriend who is far away. The artist girl doesn't know that Leonard has a steady girlfriend and she doesn't know why Leonard suddenly stops kissing.

LEONARD: I can't do this.

ARTIST GIRL: Is it my tongue stud? Because if that freaks you out then you're really in for a surprise later on.

You see? That's just screaming out loud hilarious.

Do they edit out the ugly girls? It does seem that there are an inordinate number of hot girls into cosplay. Of course, girls don't mind wearing uncomfortable clothes if it improves their sex appeal and maybe such clothes actually attract hot women. Morbidly obese women probably don't want to dress up as Wonder Woman.......I found a suit and tie restrictive and uncomfortable. No way I would dress up as a Starship Trooper or Batman. Indiana Jones looks doable and you don't need a personal trainer to fit into the costume.

Fun! I so love costumed dress up. But who are all those characters?

I knew a few of them but missed even more. Judging from our local SF con most cosplayers look like the average con goer... which I suppose could be describes as proud of her curves... but the ones that seem to really *really* get into dressing up are the ones that really look good in the costumes and younger people. I don't get to the local comic-con to speak of, but the crowd there is also much younger overall.

ALSO... the videos are probably taken in the staging area for whatever cosplay contest they've got running. Note that there aren't random convention guests walking around either. So the self-selection is both cosplayers *and* cosplayers that are part of an event or competition, so they're a bit more dedicated than someone who just dresses up to attend.
