[I]nitially the mother was not aware that her daughter set the fire and upon escaping with her son after realizing she was not with them , she tried to go back in for her but couldn’t due to the heat from the blaze.
“My mom couldn’t find my sister in the house and my mom was like all scared that my sister was in the garage and died,” the nine-year-old sibling said.
Allegedly the mother and teen had gotten into an argument earlier in the day which caused her to make the connection that the ridiculousness portrayed in the Slender Man readings should be done in real life. Which is not the first time the fictional online horror character has been used as the excuse for troubled behavior.
“She had visited the website that contains a lot of the Slender Man information and stories,” Eddie Daniels of the Pasco Sheriff’s Office told ABC News. “It would be safe to say there is a connection to that.”
While police and firefighter were searching for the girl, the suspect sent a text to her mom that read, “Mom i’m so sorry I don’t know why I did it,” and, “Did any of u get hurt,” according to the police report. (read the whole thing)

Police alleges Slender Man inspired teen to torch home with mom and brother inside.
"The suspected arsonist was arrested early Thursday after allegedly soaking a towel and a bed sheet with bleach and rum then lighting it on fire in the garage of the Port Richey, Florida home. Inside the home sleeping were her mother and her 9-year-old brother."

Sender Man Again? Yikes.
The similarity between this case and the Slender Man-inspired attempted murder in Waukesha is that all three perps are pre-adolescent females who seem to have lost the ability to differentiate fantasy from reality.
There is no mention of a father in the Port Ritchey case, nor is ther a father in the household of one of the Waukesha perps. The father in the other Waukesha perp household was "into Goth" and encouraged his daughter's fantasy life.
Duh.
My daughter works with the mother of the Waukesha girl who was nearly killed. And "nearly" is the right description - she was nearly bled out when she was found. Her injuries were very severe.
The reaction of the people who knew the two little perps was essentially that they are nuts and anyone with any sense would have known that well before they tried to kill one of their friends. I get the sense, looking at the photo of the perp in this new case, that the same holds true.
Sometimes adults need to step up and be adults. Take the crap away from your children that could cause them trouble. Any parent who let their child continue reading the Slender Man shit after the Waukesha attempted murder is negligent.
Looks like I'm going to have to stop adding a dash of bleach to my famous rum cocktails.
The Thin Man?! Ban all husband and wife detective teams!
Reporter: Say listen, is he working on a case?
Nora Charles: Yes, he is.
Reporter: What case?
Nora Charles: A case of scotch. Pitch in and help him.
Just my opinon, of course, but I don't even care to read about this sort of stuff. Haz has a connection to it, unfortunately.
But, it is too local for me. As craziness knows no boundaries, it is always easily found.
