Senate Intelligence Chairwoman Dianne Feinstein said she has not seen any evidence that the Taliban would have killed Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl if details of an agreement had leaked, contrary to what Obama administration officials have said.
When asked whether there was a “credible threat” on Bergdahl’s life if word had gotten out, the California Democrat responded: “No, I don’t think there was a credible threat, but I don’t know. I have no information that there was.” (read more)

Why weren't we consulted?
What kind of government is this?
Exchange one guy for 5 terrible Taliban?
How and why was this thought to be a good idea?
We cannot run our government like this. No checks, No balances, No debate, No up-front consultation - no transparency. Not even with democrats in the senate? The king does whatever he wants behind the cover of Eric Holder's Justice dept, and the MSM provide cover using White House talking points. White House talking points are regurgitated as "news".
No intellectual curiosity in the newsroom. No separation of media/government. The "news" is the government. The government provides the "news".
As he realizes he's worn out his welcome, Choom seems to be showing his contempt for all us lesser beings.
If he isn't ticking off the Demos in Congress, he's chewing gum at the Normandy commemoration (while the Queen of England is being introduced, natch) and flirting with the Dutch queen.
(he does have a thing for young blondes, doesn't he?
love to be a fly on the wall when he gets home)
The chewing gum was pretty heinous.
Was he really chewing gum? I didn't see the video.
I'll never forget the image of him cupping his nuts during the Pledge. That photo alone would make a good Hillary! campaign add. No more disrespect.
"Exchange one guy for 5 terrible Taliban?"
I think April has provided the fifth line to a new Christmas song.
"And a Bergdahl in the stockade!"
Not to ruin anybody's Saturday, but a full week into this fiasco and the President's daily job approval numbers are essentially unchanged per Gallup (44%) and Rasmussen (49%).
This is not your Grandfather's USA.
Why should his ratings go down for this? Almost five and a half years of recovery were needed to get back to the raw number of jobs we had before the recession, and THAT didn't hurt him.
Abd frankly, the opposition is reacting no differently to this than they do to everything, so casual followers of the news are going to think this is the usual political bullshit. That's what sixyears of treating everything like the end of the world will do. At this point in time Obama could rape Abe Lincoln's corpse during the State of the Union addres and most people will think the complaints are mete partisanship.
Six years of "He's a Muslim", "He was born in Kenya", "He stole the election", and the like have made people immune to the real outrages. A supine media fosters that attitude in the public.
Lem, couldn't you have worked a third colon into that heading?
What, like Cristóbal Colón, or like where Althouses like to take it?

All his approvals are 5 - 10 points lower.
Since Gallup got all does visits from Solly an' da boys, they do as told. And Rasmussen is not run by Scott anymore IIRC.
Knock 5 to 10 off and you've got where he really is.

And damn *them* for their inability to think for their own damn selves, icepick. Because seriously, who are they to assess the behaviour of the two partisan classes, and believe as if that meant a pinch of warm shit one way or the other. They're supposed to have their own moral compasses, and their own capacity to assess the behavior of their betters. If they can't do so without the guidance of their betters, then they're no better than slaves, and have earned their damnation, and all the abuse that follows in that train.
Fuck them all.
Black Privilege.
Mitch, half the people have IQs of 100 or below. Enough bullshit dust gets kicked up and you're going to lose those folks' attention. And a fair number of people with IQs above 100 either lack t he time, inclination, or stomach to follow all this crap.
No one with any sense would really want to step outside into the shit storm of American politics.
