I think what he's trying to say is stick to your roots, Democrats, and just lie about everything. It has worked before, and it can work again. Besides, what's our alternative? That's right, and we ain't in this to lose.
I agree with Bagoh's first comment, but the rub is Michael's acknowledgement of MSNBC's audience. If MSNBC knew how to attract people, they would have an audience size to prove it.
Rhythm and Balls said... And I figured you'd find their imitation of GOP tactics to be the highest form of flattery.
OK, R&B: What's the closest verbatim counter quote from a Conservative or Republican equivalent that you can find to back that up? I'll even let you search Limbourgh's quotes.
"[A]nte on various issues, such as framing voter-ID laws as attacks on minorities and pro-life measures as attacks on abortion rights."
I don't know that they consciously use fear as their primary motivator for scaring up votes, but it does seem to end up being the tactic they rely on most, for some reason.
Maybe it's reflexive by now and they don't even realize it.

And people say 'objective journalism' is dead...snort
All eight MSNBC viewers were no doubt encouraged by Matthews' dissemination of what sounded to them like a winning strategy.
By the way, has any Democrat ever taken Matthew's campaign advice seriously? Ever?
Mathews, Ed Shultz, Olbermann, Sharpton?
Maybe MSNBC is really just an occupational therapy hospital for the mentally insane. They have all the craziest people on TV "working" there.
I have always thought that Chris Matthews is the perfect answer to people who want to eliminate the death penalty.
Notice he's talking to Joe Scarborough, who also has a show on MSNBC. Reporters interviewing reporters.
Time filler.
I just think it's telling that the Dems no longer even try to hide their agenda.
"The democrats want to negotiate"
Sure, now they want to negotiate themselves out of the hole they themselves dug.
Where were those democrats when they were writing the legislation and Paul Ryan tried to negotiate.

Democrats, take MSNBC's advise at your own risk.
It won't be long before Comcast, MSNBC's owner, decides it should be making a lot of money from its liberal news station so MSNBC heads will roll.
Comcast, may be owned and run by liberals, but they are money-loving liberals.
You are better off getting your political analysis from the Home Shopping Network.
Chrissy learned this stuff at the feet of Tony Coelho.
In any case, Chrissy has conceded the Senate already.
The rule of law is RACISSS!
"It won't be long before Comcast, MSNBC's owner, decides it should be making a lot of money from its liberal news station so MSNBC heads will roll."
You forgot the sarcasm tag, but I got it.

If I were Comcast I would turn MSNBC into an even more conservative station than Fox. That would really shake things up.
And I figured you'd find their imitation of GOP tactics to be the highest form of flattery.

The word count is 23, but I'll allow you 25.

@R & B: I really think Tingles' action potential has totally spiked. He's sodium depleted now.
What you ought to do, R&B is disavow Matthews as a spokesperson for anyone but Chris Matthews.
Lol. You are hilarious. Who ever declared him a "spokesperson" for anything?
We're liberals. We speak for ourselves. We don't need hierarchy.
Just accept it, man.
No Ritmo, he's on TV representing YOU. Just like you're always saying Limbaugh et al. represent me.
Or you're buying into the "New Confederacy" BS and projecting it without a screen.
I don't listen to Chris Matthews or rely on him for serious thought. Can you say the same for you and Rush Limbaugh?
Can you say the same for you and Rush Limbaugh?
I don't listen to radio at all.
Then it's kind of odd that you brought up Lush Rimjob.
Not really. I've never watch Tingles either except in YouTube clips.
I've read Limbaugh opinions and transcripts -- when they're linked.
I haven't.
