"Veterans Day ceremonies and events in the D.C. area"

"Combat between the allied forces of World War I and Germany ended on Nov. 11, 1918. The date has been used by countries around the world to honor the sacrifices of its military members ever since; in the United States, Veterans Day is an occasion to honor all those who have served. Monday's commemorative events include wreath-laying ceremonies, concerts and more."

Happy Veterans Day to the vet here at Lem's place. Thanks to each one of you for your service in defense of our nation.

In the old movies or the old TV shows sometimes there'd be a soldier sitting at the counter in a diner and someone would offer to pick up the tab or something.

Get a good thing, institutionalize it, and then overdo it, seems to be the trend.
