kicks

Now that is poor sportsmanship. 2001. Israel Cristostomo Alcántara kick Jeremy Salazar in the face mask then charges and throws unsuccessful punch at Cedeño.

Seen on the Imagur photostream linked earlier, the comments go to reddit where the wikipedia entry on the incident is pointed to.

Where also a commenter says, "With moves like that he ought to check out Japanese Binocular Soccer."  Is that even a thing? Why, yes, apparently it is.

Must be from some serious radiation exposure in Japan.

I don't think I'll ever get used to the way the Mexican TV announcers carry on after every goal.

Totally Bogus.

I was driving to work this morning, stopped at a red light in a part of the city inhabited largely by illegal immigrants.

So I'm sitting there listening to an audiobook on the history of evolutionary theory and the narrator is talking about Galton and Spencer and eugenics and the inferiority of certain races.

And these three guys cross the street and passed right in front of my car. Not one of them was over 5 feet tall. They were dark-skinned with curly black hair and big curly black beards and they had long arms and they walked with a kind of loping shuffle.

They looked like they'd walked right out of some diorama at the museum of natural history.

It was kind of weird.

After watching nearly 90 minutes of back and forth kicking of the soccer ball with no end in sight, a goal is a welcomed relief.
