Nearly all of the old avatars are here. Hooray for that. And hooray for Lem!
Lem's made the place, but it's an awful lot of work to fill the space, so you'll now be seeing posts from time to time by guest bloggers. Hope you enjoy it.
I listened to the audio with my preschoolers today. I wish that I could have shown them the ballet as well but it's too spooky for three year olds, plus BOOBS!
I always like a good video on a blog. I like getting exposed to new or good music, recognizing some favorites, and figuring out where someone's taste in music lies.
All right. I gotta split. This is where I say "Good night Rethuglicans" and you answer "Good night, Libtard" and that's how we all know we're getting along like peas in a pod.
Curtis was the real deal. He wrote it and first played with the Impression. I heard him play it in the park in Brooklyn back in the day and it was a religious experience.
It is a sin and a shame that great soul songs are appropriated by white singers and people think they originated it.
I've always been partial to the original Nijinsky choreography.
If you ever get a chance to see the ballet live with Nijinsky's choreography, do so. But sit high in the balcony. Nijinsky's genius lay in assembling "competing" groups of dancers on stage, mirroring in the dance Stravinsky's piling up of repetitive motifs in the music.
It's also amazing how loud it is to have all those feet hitting the stage at the same time in the ensemble scenes.
I think if you have your own private jet and have married a succession of super models, then you shouldn't be singing about passing from this vale of tears and moving on to a better world.
(third try...here goes, two previous attempts appeared to go on the thread and then just disappeared)
Many heartfelt thanks to Lem for giving the commenters a home.
I was an avid reader of all you folks for over 8 years. You can't imagine the distress I felt when I feared you would all just 'vanish'.
So so glad to see you all!!
Now I know a few haven't seemed to find their way here yet.....I'm thinking of the 2 Scotts (or as I think of them bear and brocolli) and the priest....Here's hoping they show up as well.

I'm not a huge Rod Stewart fan but I've always liked his self-deprecating sense of humor. Referring to himself as 'a nose with legs,' for example.
Lem selected the video. I haven't watched it yet. I don't usually watch any videos online. I'm sure it is nice.
Great idea.
So does this count as a moveable feast?
In fact, I didn't even write the title to this post. I just wrote the post part.
Easing into this multiple people posting things thing.
Hey Mister Lem, if you're ever in the mood for something different--this is one of my favorite performances to watch online. The sacrificial dance from Stravinsky's Rite of Spring.

Good for you Lem. And good for us pilot fish who don't comment much.
Maggie May is playing in the elevator to hell.
The song has religious overtones, but that's not necessarily what is beautiful about it, for me.

@Lem - Great idea, having guest bloggers! And starting with Freeman sets a very high standard. Nice work.
Awesome, and the finest of commenters to start it off.

G'night, John-boy!
Er, Lib-boy.
To make a blog it takes a blogger and one lib,
One blogger, and a lib,
And revery.
The revery alone will do,
If libs are few.
Stewart did a nice, floating, soulful version with Jeff Beck back in the 80s.
However, my heart belongs to Eva Cassidy.
If you haven't heard her yet, I envy you your first time. Just stunning and she's touching more people each year, though she died young in 1996.
Of course, thanks and credit to Curtis Mayfield and The Impressions.
Shit. I just spilled a full glass of ice water on a coffee table full of magazines and books.
Fire in the hole!
Medic!
That's that point creely.

Here is the real deal.
I think you are right creely...
I was thinking of the significance "unplugged" might have vis-a-vis our rendezvou with Destinies child of Jocelyn Elders fame.
If you insist on a cover version you should check out the Rev. Al Green and friends.
That's soul baby.
Now I'm listening to Curtis Mayfield & The Impressions singing "It's All Right." Great stuff.
Maybe we didn't listen enough to soul music at Althouse. Maybe that was the problem.
It's all right to have a good time
Because it's all right.

I mean here is a song that could be the theme song for Lem's blog by the Rev Al again "Tired of Being Alone.
Oh and by the way that is the Rev Al Green not the Rev Al Sharpton. Just sayn'

Good night phx, you moonbat.
OMG--
There is a new blogger in the HIZZZY LMAO
Go look.
Graba Colt 45, some Thunderbird--or a NewCastle.
So with co-bloggers and everything now, can we test run a Sarah Palin thread?
Wait I should have said look up new thread.
Chip Ahoy is guest blogging already.
That was funny but not in the right spirit.
Nevermind.
Ya--it was--funny as hell but good decision.
This is better.
Here is Lem's Lem's favorite video of all time.
Wait a minute.
This might be Lem's favorite.
He has to let us know which one he likes best.
Hell my team is the Pirates so--
A) I don't watch baseball really.
and--
B) I don't know baseball.
Cripes I'm still laughing at the black lipstick and that dude did look like bird boy--although the voice was too low.
Tweetie.
Man good night--I'm punch drunk gotta hit the sack.
So psyched for this.
Dig the new puntastic blog title too.
Hey by the way Troop, I missed you (in this guise) at the other place, after you left. Happy to see that mug again.
Would be awesome to see some more long lost (to me) faces. And stragglers who haven't checked in yet. Come on home.
creeley23,
Maybe we didn't listen enough to soul music at Althouse. Maybe that was the problem.
She called it "bellyaching" remember?
Oh, the things you guys endorsed that woman saying,...
Good morning, everyone.
IHMMP - interesting video. Maybe after that group rehearses a couple more times they will do a better job of it.

Freeman, I don't know why you don't view videos online, but I don't because I pay for my megabytes and videos use up too many.
