Pavlov's dog

Philip Zimbardo, whose hair and beard are 100% not dyed black with flat Just For Men without any natural highlights, explains how things that are not dog food but associated with feeding can make dogs salivate just as much as if they are being actually fed. And that goes for dogs today equally as much as it did for dogs back then. Pavlov actually measured dog's salivation. How gross is that? Jeeze. The sacrifices scientists make. You learned this already as a youth in Psychology 101 but here it is again anyway for review.

It's not just dogs that salivate involuntarily.

Perhaps another example is useful to understanding classical conditioning.

Today I woke up with the television on tuned into a Spanish station with chyron reading: Tiroteo en iglasia, Sutherland Springs, Texas. Tiroteo mean shootout and iglasia means church as in the famous hot Spanish singer, Enriched Churches.

Later we learned 27 people were killed and about that same amount injured, some not expected to survive.

"Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family affected by this tragedy" is the first classically trained response that we hear. Everywhere. It's empty. People don't automatically drop to their knees and start praying. They just say that they do. And whatever they're thinking about it's not mentally sorting though victim by victim and pouring their thoughts into all the ramifications of the event on their lives. Who knows what people are actually thinking? Perhaps how terrible that situation must have been, how helpless, how terrifying.

In Texas I imagine they're thinking mostly about what they can do to protect themselves. I believe they think about shooting back and putting a quick end to attacks.

Within hours Democrat politicians and Democrat celebrities who fancy themselves political spokespeople urged "sensible" gun legislation. Now that's classical conditioning.

What do we know this early about the attacker?

The assailant was dressed in black, tactical gear and ballistic vest and armed with a Ruger AR type rifle.

An eye witness neighbor engaged the shooter with his own rifle. It's thought he hit the shooter in the neck. The shooter dropped his weapon and fled in his vehicle. The citizen pursued him in his own vehicle.

When police arrived the shooter was dead

The shooter's name is Devin Patrick Kelly, 26 years of age.

Court-martialed from USAF for bad conduct, with 12 months confinement and two reductions in rank to basic airman. Dishonorably discharged from the Air Force. His offense was beating his wife and his child.

The man was barred legally from owning a gun.

But none of this matters. Nevermind all the surrounding circumstances, they have no bearing on mouth watering reactions, liberals permanently jacked up about their in-the-bag criminal candidate actually losing after all that corrupted effort put into the project of seizing government, the nationwide protest featuring black-clad tactical geared up antifa dimwits funded by Soros money, the assailant hailing from Austin the liberal capital of conservative Texas, the assailant's Facebook page listing his typically liberal causes. None of that matters when your mouth is watering profusely. An incident occurred and the salivation is autonomic. It cannot be controlled. So we must bear with slobber all over ourselves. Again. From sloppy slobbering empty claims of thoughts and prayers going out from every direction, to Democrat politicians and celebrities trained exactly as dogs to demand unspecified sensible gun controls. Yet again. It's classical.

The may have been victims of Watson's experiment, back when experiments were experiments:

Watson, repeating similar experiments [to Pavolv], noted the transference aspect of such conditioning. Having found that the violent striking of an iron bar produced fear in an infant, he noted that he could give a fear character to some hitherto neutral object, such as a rabbit, by placing it before the child each time the iron bar was struck; he next demonstrated that t his conditioned fear of the rabbit was transferred with varying degrees of intensity to other things having similar properties (such as fur coats or cotton blankets).

Still not 24 hours into my self-imposed first 72 hour ban whenever such subjects occur, but good post Chip.

I will say this though, if certain federal law enforcement agencies began hiding investigations of such incidents after the first 72 hours; I may start talking sooner. Anyone know the motives of the Las Vegas shooter? How he was funded?

I'll admit that your croque madame post generated a bit of involuntary slobber.

The media will ignore all leftist -proggy liberal ties and social media of such ties... as they drool. Indeed.

We hear so little on the Vegas shooter. I guarantee that means the dude is a leftwing democrat.
