I loved old Joe. He was so totally low rent.

Tough to tell whether the question about The Dead Milkmen touched a raw nerve or whether they just never heard of them.

If pressed, I'd have to go with the latter.

The best show to watch drunk at 2 in the morning on Channel 9

Never heard of the gentleman. May he rest in peace.

Sometimes I watched him. As Trooper pointed out, he was on early in the morning on an unknown channel and was best viewed drunk.. He wasn't especially witty or interesting and, more often than not, he had on some obscure guest who didn't think that this appearance was his big break. The show was bad, but it never got worse. He was kind of reliable. He showed up and kept at it.. I believe he was the first celebrity to achieve fame and acceptance for being dull and bland. He paved the way for Mr. Rogers. He was Mr. Rogers for drunks with no where to go after closing time.

I just remembered a bit Sarah Silverman did of him... not with him... standup bit.

Joe Franklyn raped me... you have to forward towards the end.

Ms. Silverman did not stick the landing.

The nicest, least charismatic man ever to grace a television or radio show. A LOT of people got a leg up there when they were nobody.
