"Obama’s Syria muddle"

"What is the Obama administration plan in Syria?"
It depends on whom you ask and when.
At 9 p.m. Tuesday, President Obama, in his address to the nation, said that he had “asked the leaders of Congress to postpone a vote to authorize the use of force.”
This contradicted what his secretary of state, John Kerry, had said in testimony to Congress just 11 hours earlier. “We’re not asking Congress not to vote,” Kerry told the House Armed Services Committee. “I’m not asking [for] delay,” he added later.
The administration’s frequent shifts convey the feeling that it is a spectator observing world affairs. Russia is drafting a proposal. France is taking a different proposal to the United Nations. And the people’s House has returned to its previously scheduled program: holding votes undoing Obamacare
Care to take a guess how it will turn out?

Seriously. We have a bunch of posturing, self important, totally ignorant, emotionally stunted people running this country. They are so un-serious about anything except retaining their own power. They refuse to listen to any other experts in diplomacy or anything else.....because THEY are just the smartest people evah!!

It is like we are on an out of control train manned by snotty junior high kids.

Meanwhile....the rest of the world leaders, while also interested in maintaining their control and power, are playing a masterful game of politics and outmaneuvering our clown posse and laughing all the while at their good fortune to be pitted against these laughing stocks.

We are so scre......oh heck...forget it ....we know.

And everyone will still retain their weapons of mass destruction. You know those that stooopid Boooosh said Sadam had sent to Syria and everyone on the left laughed at him? The ability to get rid of these weapons is beyond the capabilities of Russia or the US. Logistically it is near impossible.

So...nothing really changes in the situation in the Middle East, except Putin looks like a strong evil genius and Obama looks like a Howdy Doody puppet.

Continue on with the war.

1) There will be no attacks from us.
2) Assad will win his civil war.
3) Assad or someone worse in Syria will still have tons of WMDs 10 years from now.
4) The people in power both here and in Russia, as well as the Press, the Democrats, and the libertarians will all say "great job!"
5) Chemical weapons - the stated point of all this - will not be affected.

On the day we remember those who died on 911, perhaps we can all stand together...liberals and conservatives...and ask that the politicians and pundits of both sides stop getting us involved in foreign entanglements that lead to endless hatred. It is time to look within and leave the problems of places like Syria to the people who live there.

At this point, he'd settle for Willie Whitewater trying to free Pussy Riot.

The funny part is, since WWII, with the possible exception of Bush 41, the Rs have put up some pretty good men in that arena.

As far as I can remember, the last good one the Demos had was James Polk.

It's the "Just Kidding" foreign policy doctrine.

"There is a red line in the sand: No chemical weapons can be used!"

Months later: "Just kidding!"

...

"If they give up there weapons, we will let it slide."

Two hours later: "Just kidding, no we won't!"

Six hours later: "Just kidding again, yes we will."

...

"We are not asking Congress to delay their vote."

11 hours later: Just kidding, yes we are asking for Congress to delay their vote."

...

NOTE: All the "Eleven hours later" stuff should be done in the faux-Jacques Cousteau voice as used similarly on SpongeBob SquarePants.

Icepick said...

I don't think the "Just kidding" foreign policy is going to hold up as well as the Monroe Doctrine, TR's Speak Softly and Carry a Big Stick Doctrine, and certainly won't hold up as well the ABC-1 Staff Agreement did in WWII.

This is going to look more like the pacifist crap that went down in the 1920s, or Neville Chamberlain's appeasement strategy, only writ much smaller.

Icepick said...

I disagree. FDR did a pretty good job. He was fighting massive headwinds domestically that wanted the US to stay out of everything. Those headwinds didn't disappear until after Pearl Harbor got bombed.

I watched the speech and I realized how utterly outgunned and outclassed this retard of a human being we call a president ended up being. Putin played him like a little bitch and are all made the lesser for it. This was the captivating moment when you can finally cement how utterly incompetent and dangerous this man, this president, and this administration are and have been to this country. This point in time is the definitive hallmark of seeing your nation recede before your very eyes. That it's diminishment is now at the hands of the cabal between Urkel's total incompetence and the rise of Russia, China, and their proxies Iran and Syria. How in the name of fuck did this utterly failing moron called Obama let this happen? We all know how.

This is what the race hustlers, fag hags and feminazes have been trying to achieve, and they have succeeded.

Actually, it didn't come from nowhere. The progressives have been fomenting racial discord for quite some time now. It IS the plan, you know, to keep the blacks subjugated into permanent victim status and keep them as a reliable uneducated propagandized voting block. The progressives don't want to see whites and blacks getting along or working towards any common goals. That would loosen their stranglehold on keeping the reins of power.

It's been a long time coming

Shouting Thomas has it correct.

You will be destroyed if you even try to defend yourself while a member of one of the privileged classes tries to kill you.

However

"God forbid we should ever be twenty years without such a rebellion.
The people cannot be all, and always, well informed. The part which is
wrong will be discontented, in proportion to the importance of the facts
they misconceive. If they remain quiet under such misconceptions,
it is lethargy, the forerunner of death to the public liberty. ...
And what country can preserve its liberties, if its rulers are not
warned from time to time, that this people preserve the spirit of
resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as
to the facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost
in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from
time to time, with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
It is its natural manure."

Althouse has her good and bad points, like all humans.

Unfortunately, her worst feature, which is her determination to destroy human tradition to further her and her sons' ambitions has overshadowed everything.

She wants to force us all into the world of the intellectual and hyper-rationalist inside her skull. She's like half a person.

It seems impossible for her to even comprehend the catastrophe she and her comrades are advancing by destroying the human traditions of marriage, family and sexuality. She's so proud of her intellect that she's something of an idiot when it comes to the world outside her skull.

I fear it is becoming too late for that. How many rounds of ammo and whatever vehicles did Homeland Security buy? How do we go against a government that controls the internet and our addiction to tech?

A profound world-wide crash will allow them to mow us down like animals if we try to rebel. It's called efficiency, the watch-word of the future. Everything comes down to efficiency.

And as Icepick says above, the haves have a vested interest in not rebelling. We'll always need a professional class of medical personnel, scientists, drug makers, energy producers, etc. to have conveniences.

It's coming down to a re-do of the medieval wild west for the under-classes. That's why they must have medical care and basics.

Plus, think about where the military gets most of its recruits - the south. We have not forgotten, nor are we likely to, the recent unpleasantness between the states. I would not count on the armed forces uniformly attacking the American people. Can't rule it out, but you never know until you get there.

This is not as small an issue as you think.

In my little hometown, we called women like Althouse sissies!

She's been writing a lot lately about how satisfying she finds sitting in her office and contemplating the paper clips.

The world of action, rough and tumble action, that I grew up in is alien and frightening to her.

I've struggled for some time to understand how an upper middle class white woman like her decided she was "oppressed" when she was a kid. She grew up in circumstances so much better than mine that that contention is ridiculous. Then she morphed into asserting that her son, the spawn of upper middle class white professionals, is "oppressed."

I have often thought she was just fucking crazy, but the reality is probably that the rough and tumble world I grew up seems terrifying to a sissy girl. And the usual insults, bumps and bruises that she and her son suffer, which just seem like normal life to me, seem overwhelmingly brutal to her.

Yep, surreal's the word.

But it seems to work for Obama and the Democrats, so maybe we too should follow their trusted plan for living -- from Through the Looking-Glass:

"I'm just one hundred and one, five months and a day."

"I can't believe that!" said Alice.

"Can't you?" the Queen said in a pitying tone. "Try again: draw a long breath, and shut your eyes."

Alice laughed. "There's no use trying," she said: "one can't believe impossible things."

"I daresay you haven't had much practice," said the Queen. "When I was your age, I always did it for half-an-hour a day. Why, sometimes I've believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast."

Now, draw a long breath and shut your eyes...

Ha! We were shown interdepartmental coordinated efficiency. It amounts to very large unassailable trucks and hundreds of strike force uniformed men standing around sipping coffee, going house to house making sure everyone is behaved.

Until it gets dark.

Then exercise halts! And the perp is easily routed, even better, more efficiently, quite expediently, without their coordinated efforts.

We saw rent seekers in uniforms. And loyalty to uniform is rapidly becoming a quaint idea of a forgotten past.

Want to hear something prosaic unrelated that I think is funny? Okay.

I was shopping a few days ago and struck up a conversation with an attractive young lesbian stacking up meats reduced for fast sale. That's what our conversation was about. I was struck by her youth when she presumed to carefully explain to me the faint change in color.

I said something I never said or thought or imagined before and it felt so odd coming out of my mouth.

"A long time ago, most likely before you were born..."

Then went on about marbling meat with examples right there, and about Prime, never seen in stores like the one she works everyday, but available elsewhere.

So young she has no way to know how life was before nudging, and constant nagging, year upon year upon decade dietary fat is derided, butter demonized, eggs traduced, back and forth between fatal harvests, no way to know what chicken is supposed to taste like and when shown those real things have only an improper faulted gauge for all things like this that are gone, such as right to bear arms. There is no way for her to know her loss once born into new normal. She has no idea, no way to know, the potential that was forfeited for her by others for her own good, the income she would have had, the savings she could have accumulated, the flavors she would have tasted, the deliciously fat ribeye she'll never have.
