Guest Post & Open Thread

[A guest post* from commenter Rhythm and Balls]:

Poet Chickie had a fact
but Poet Chickie lacked the tact
to use the knack and take the act
to put said knowledge to good effect.

Instead he writhed and roared in pain
that no one loved all of the gains
that benefited no one - save his dames
and their good masters at places like Bain

"Why can't," he cried, "the wretched love"
"The closed off kindness we see above?"

"The generosity sphincter has released enough!" "Now send us speedily peace-bearing dove!"

"For if we do not hate the poor,"
"And insufficiently abhor,"
"Industrious activity, exchange for all,"
"Then financial gods will appear too small!"

"For worshipping them is just the point,"
"And fractured economies we must anoint."
"Bar from commerce these wretched fleas!"
"For stinginess is virtue - and DESTINY!"

THanks for the feature post and being a good sport. I actually revised it, at this link.

Long Live Chickie!
(I think my newfound chivalric vim if not spit stems from a recent marathon watching of The Tudors, a great deal at "free!" for what they offered on account of my Amazon Prime account. (So no TOP portal proceeds are necessary, or apparently even possible ;-)).

Now it's off for a car wash. Enjoy your respite from drought, SOCA!

Who spends his money and time washing his car when he could be using it to help the poor? That is some selfish cold shit right there.

Yesterday was perfect.

I was following exactly 200 twitter critters and 100 were following me... until this morning, when somebody followed me, throwing off my insignificant semblance of harmony and balance.

This fella doesn't ask for much ;)

You can't drive to Vegas on a dirty car. That's probably a rule somewhere.

I love it!

That was great chicke and Ritmo.

Here's the thing. The attitude at Lem's: Collegial.

The attitude at TOP: congealed.

If you are aghast at government tax waste: Solyndra, shovel ready, one broken economic promise after the other, a horrible jobs situation, a botched ACA rollout that has costs states billions, cronies and donors acquiring disproportionate wealth while the economy worsens, ... that makes you "stingy" according to the official leftwing cliché.

Stingy.

Montana Urban Schmendrik would have you believe the poor work. EBT cards anyone? Friggin' commie f**k's in complete attack mode on the middle class in the name of the p-o-o-o-o-o-r.

Actually the car wash was closed. But I go to one of those places that has like 10 guys go over it with soft cloths after it rolls off the washing assembly line. So I'm fairly certain I'm helping contribute to people reliant on low-income labor. They do a real nice job and I tip 'em well. They're also of a physical look and sound that seems Latin, perhaps legally here or perhaps not, but regardless I'm helping out people trying to make the best of their situation here and working hard to do it. A very professional place and a very professional job - I highly recommend it if you're in town. One of the best car wash places around. They offer decent regular service as well.

Think how much more you'd help if the car wash workers were coeds in bikinis.

Oh I would, Michael. I would.

Well see, here's the thing. I used to be a lot more liberal. So hating libs because they're libs would be like hating my past self. Not gonna do that. But it's true about getting along with intellectual adversaries and such. I learned that from a pair of master arguers: link

I can't afford to get my car washed anymore but I used to tip well when I did.

And yeah, why aren't there more young women working at car washes? You see it in the movies all the time.

They need money - you have it. Just give it to them.

I did. It was called "a tip". Ever hear of one of those? Wow! What will they think of next?

But was it a living wage, and did it provide them health insurance, unemployment insurance, disability, SS, and vacation, and did they get family leave. You really should have demanded to know if they were legal or you are just another of the exploiters of the poor immigrants fighting for survival and living in the shadows. You guys with your fancy top hats, tails, and big cigars waving your cash around like you're at the zoo feeding monkeys. It's disgusting.

Well, thanks for this elucidating dissection of all the things you have a gripe against!
