Big doings in Madison Wisconsin as crowds riot in support of BLM..

Big doings in Madison Wisconsin home of the Evil Blogger Lady and her consort. It seems that instead of just torching small businesses and destroying the livelihood of normal people the crowd has turned to tearing down statutes of progressive heroes and attacking white people having brunch.

From the blog Wisconsin State Journal:

"Protesters tore down statues of Forward and a Union Civil War colonel, assaulted a state senator and set a small fire in a city building Downtown on Tuesday night after the arrest of a Black activist earlier in the day.

In response, Gov. Tony Evers warned Wednesday morning that he was prepared to call in the National Guard to protect state buildings. Evers said is his office is "continuing to work with local law enforcement to understand their response to last night’s events and their plan to respond to similar events in the future.”
Devonere Johnson
Johnson
Devonere Johnson, 28, was arrested after causing a disturbance in a restaurant on the Capitol Square, according to Madison police and video of the incident. Videos of the arrest — some circulating on social media and others provided by the Madison Police Department — show as many as five officers taking Johnson to the sidewalk and carrying him to a police squad car after Johnson initially resisted arrest."

It is unfair to single out Madison despite it being the homeland of out of touch liberal assholes because almost every big city in America is facing the same dilemma. Led by Democrats they will not stand for law and order and will let the looters and rioters destroy their cities in the name of racial and progressive justice. Some idiots fear that right wing groups will confront them. The fabled boogaloo boys of the progressives fever dreams. Well guess what? They are going to let the cities burn. They are hunkering down in their gated communities or rural oasises and letting nature take it's course.
The cities are lost. The savages are in control. Good luck with that. Remember.
Monkey see monkey do.

KLEM FM

Civil rights struggles are universal and belong to all races, nations, creeds, etc., etc. To say otherwise or to emphasize exclusivity seems foolish.

That song is from the last U2 album I bought. I'm still kicking myself for missing their show in Madison at a small club around 1982. At the time, I only knew them from MTV and their version of "Gloria" which had nothing in common with Van Morrison.

"Police shooting death of black man sparks protests in Wisconsin"

"A police officer followed the man back to an apartment, where the man reportedly attacked the officer. “The officer did draw his revolver and subsequently shot the subject,” Madison Police Chief Mike Koval said...

An editor for the UW-Madison student newspaper The Badger Herald tweeted a photo of the protest and reported that the crowd chanted “black lives matter,” a rallying cry that has gained prominence in the wake of the police-involved deaths of black men in Ferguson, Missouri, and Staten Island, New York.

(Update) The young man killed had prior arrests (ht Michael Haz)

Remembering Erwin Knoll

Erwin Knoll (1931-1994)
"Everything you read in the newspapers is absolutely true except for the rare story of which you happen to have firsthand knowledge" ~Knoll's Law of Media Accuracy

A few days ago, I linked to a video I made from a 1988 radio broadcast by the late Erwin Knoll. If you listened to that recording through conservative eardrums, you probably bristled a bit at Knoll's take on the topic. Knoll personified the sort of Madison liberal I knew well growing up Wisconsin. But in fact, I once met Erwin Knoll, and we probably nodded heads over something at the time.

Knoll used to come into the tiny grocery store where I worked during college. The store was just around the corner from the former offices of The Progressive on W. Gorham St.  He used to come in to buy snacks and whatnot.  I remember his colleague Howard Morland better -- I used to sell him his smokes -- he was the guy who wrote the piece "The H-Bomb Secret, How We Got It -- Why We're Telling It" -- a story which landed them both in a 1st Amendment lawsuit in which they prevailed. They didn't tell me what they were up to at the time, even though this was 1979.

Why the praise for Knoll? He stood adamantly opposed to squelching anti-abortion views of contrarian progressives. This enraged some of his readers. Said one: "I'm always intrigued at how few people understand that free speech encompasses a little more than the speech you like." link

[added: Young Hegelian links to The Progressive article about abortion which Knoll published in 1980]

The Most Racist City In The U.S?

It's Madison, Dane County, Wisconsin according to researchers at Race to Equity -- a Madison-based initiative started by the Wisconsin Council on Children and Families -- and reported here at the SocialistWorker.org website.

Excuse me for a moment while I smirk.

Let's look at the data:
In 2011, the unemployment rate was 25.2 percent for Blacks compared to just 4.8 percent for whites. Nationally, the unemployment rate was 18 percent for Blacks and 8 percent for whites.
In the same year, "over 54 percent of African American Dane County residents lived below the federal poverty line, compared to 8.7 percent of whites, meaning Dane County Blacks were over six times more likely to be poor than whites.
More than 74 percent of Black children live under the poverty level as opposed to just 5.5 percent of white children. The report suggested "that this 13 to 1 disparity ratio may constitute one of the widest Black/white child poverty gaps that the Census Surveys reported for any jurisdiction in the nation.
In 2011, African American youth in the Madison Public School District had about a 50 percent on-time high school graduation rate, compared to 85 percent for white students.
African American adolescents, while constituting less than 9 percent of the county's youth population, made up almost 80 percent of all the local kids sentenced to the state's juvenile correctional facility in 2011.
Madison is one of the most liberal cities in the U.S.  It's detractors call it 50 square miles surrounded by reality, an observation that is funny because it's true.  We know liberals aren't racist because they constantly tell us that they aren't (and that conservatives are) ad nauseum.

What is to blame for Madison's racism?  The study identifies several causes.
The University of Wisconsin.  The U turns out a lot of well-educated young people who stay in Madison after graduation making it difficult for undereducated people to find jobs.  Additionally the 40,000 students are a reliable source of part-time workers who also make it difficult for others (Blacks in this instance) to find work.
Segregated neighborhoods that confine Blacks to a limited number of sectors in Madison.
A criminal justice system biased against blacks.
The report  concludes that "the alarming truth is that our numbers, taken as a whole, suggest that the distance between whites and Blacks (in terms of well-being, status and outcomes) is as wide or wider in Dane County than in any jurisdiction (urban or rural, North or South) for which we have seen comparable statistics."

Socialists calling Progressives racist It doesn't get better than this.

Somewhere in Madison a graduate student is writing an article blaming Bush and the Tea Party for this problem.  And the student will be a white male or female, living in a nearly all-white housing area, and will have only a few token Black friends.  The student will be under the guidance of a white professor who lives in a neighborhood of mostly white people who shop at Whole Foods and feel fully enlightened about race matters because they voted for Barack Obama and like classic Otis Redding albums.

Madison is racist. and blind to its own hypocrisy.
