Should Jeb bail?

"Not that any of this will stop him from shambling forward through Iowa and New Hampshire like the most preppily-dressed zombie on “The Walking Dead.” After all, zombies don’t know they are dead until you drive a stake through their brains. No one has done that to the JEB! 2016 campaign yet.

...Bush’s backers are nervous. One of them complained to Politico – anonymously – that donors are not seeing much “bang for their buck.” A Republican political consultant, who also remained anonymous, likened Bush’s predicament to the moment in “Predator” when Arnold Schwarzenegger says of the mysterious and wounded creature killing his team of soldiers, “If it bleeds, we can kill it.” Inspiring stuff!

...His unartful comments on a handful of subjects suggest a man either saddled with a patrician’s tin ear, or a guy trying on the persona of a hard-right Washington hater and failing miserably. Just in the last few weeks, he has dismissed the idea of enacting gun control laws to reduce mass shootings as worthless because “stuff happens.” He has accused African-American voters of only voting for candidates who will give them “free stuff.” (Very big on the word “stuff,” is old Jeb.) Just the other day he suggested he’d like to start a recession in Washington, D.C. because somehow that would grow the economy everywhere else."

I think he should keep going and keep speaking from the heart. What the hell, he's a nice enough guy, it may pan out. Trump gets to run his mouth 24/7.

Don't think I don't appreciate Trump, though. He brings a refreshing jolt to the race. A breath of air-conditioned casino air to the silly season.

What's with Carson, though? I do not get the appeal.

Dawn of the Fred

After Fred became a Zombie he infected everyone. Sort of the same way Miss Kitty gave everyone Aids on Gunsmoke. He bit Wilma and Betty and Barney and even Dino. They would wander through cartoon town killing and eating the brains of  all the cartoon characters. They chowed down on Top Cat and Magilla Gorilla. Munched on Captain Crunch. They even parboiled Penelope Pitt Stop.

It was a bloodbath.

The only ones who were safe were the characters on Doonesbury. Since they were liberals they didn't have any brains to eat.

Speaking of zombies...

There's something "off" about this version. It's very close -- but not identical -- to the version I'm used to which is the one that I originally linked to here. Deborah needs to review that old link.

Dawn of the Fred!

We thought we had seen it all with the Flintstones. The affair between Wilma and Dino. That dirty slut Betty Rubble. Barney shooting smack and falling asleep on the toilet. But what really ended the show was when a Zombie came over to the set and bit Fred.

So we have a new series.

Dawn of the Fred.

Here's a groovy fashion flashback:

"Time of the Season" was orphaned by The Zombies -- they broke up a year before the song became a hit in 1969.

Like The Rolling Stones, The Zombies had been around since 1962 -- here's how they looked and sounded in 1964 -- fifty years ago.

Notice how that song has an actual ending and not a fade out -- that's the hallmark of a live performing stage act and not a studio band.  Listen to many of the early Beatles songs and you'll also hear clean abrupt endings.  How else are you going to close a song live? I think radio DJ's learned to love fade outs because they could start talking over the song.

Welcome To My Nightmare

This video used to be quite popular on YouTube until White Zombie stepped in to enforce copyrights. I remember the YouTube thread by the original maker and his story of having to take it down. Here it is, back somehow:

The synchronization of the video and audio is striking; I especially like the part beginning right around 2m 34s where the slow motion underground explosion heaves the earth and "burps through."

BTW, these are not "atomic" bombs but rather H-bombs.
