"Mexico denounces Trump immigration plan as racist"

We continue to stand by our position that these comments reflect prejudice, racism or plain ignorance,” Mexico’s foreign ministry said in a statement... “Anyone who understands the depth of the U.S.-Mexico relationship realizes that those proposals are not only prejudiced and absurd, but would be detrimental to the well-being of both societies."
Trump released a policy outline detailing his “three core principles” for immigration reform last weekend.
It emphasized securing America’s borders, increasing enforcement of immigration laws and putting the needs of current U.S. citizens first.
“We are the only country in the world whose immigration system puts the needs of other nations ahead of our own,” Trump said in a statement on his website.
“Real immigration reform puts the needs of the working people first – not wealthy globetrotting donors,” he added. “That must change."
By the way, Mexico's own immigration policy is not as generous as the United States. Cries of "racism" and favoritism to the American working and unemployed middle class could backfire. Every time Trump is criticized his numbers mysteriously go up.

"What drives left-wing immigration policy?"

From the Washington Examiner's Dan Hannan...
Join me in a little thought experiment.
Suppose some conservative think tank were to propose a Darwinian immigration policy. No longer would people be admitted because they had applied properly and played by the rules; nor yet because they were judged to be in need of political asylum. Instead, as in some dystopian science fiction film, applicants would have to go through an obstacle course designed to weed out the weaklings. Some would die in the attempt. Many more would turn back, defeated. Only the most crafty and determined would win through, bringing their cunning to their new homeland and adding their ruthless DNA to its gene pool.
I think we can imagine how the Left would react to such an idea. The people proposing would be howled down as Nazis, hounded out of public life. And yet the process I have just described is becoming an increasingly common route into Britain, America and Europe.
When illegal immigrants elbow aside those who have queued patiently and those judged to be victims of repression, Leftists demand that they be allowed to stay. (read the whole thing)
Probably the most frustrating thing about illegal immigration is little discussed. It's the government number one job to protect the country against invasion. That is literally their number one job. Things have been slowly allowed to progress in such a way that it is conceivable illegal immigration will soon be the next pot legalization.

"Obama delays action on changes to immigration system"

"After efforts to pass a comprehensive immigration bill died in the Republican-led House of Representatives, Obama gave a fiery White House speech in June saying he would instead do it on his own. During that speech, he said, "If Congress won't do their job, at least we can do ours."
But the president came under intense pressure from Democrats facing tough re-election battles who feared a stiff Republican backlash come November if the president made his announcement before then. Among their chief concerns was a plan to protect millions of undocumented immigrants from deportation, a move largely supported by immigration advocates but reviled as "amnesty" by many Republicans.

"The president's latest broken promise is another slap in the face of the Latino and immigrant community," said Cristina Jimenez, managing director for United We Dream, a group of young undocumented immigrants pushing for an end to deportations.

"Where we have demanded leadership and courage from both Democrats and the president, we've received nothing but broken promises and a lack of a political backbone."

No Worries; It's Just Honduran Kids Who Want a Better Life Crossing the Border

That's what Americans have been led to believe.  Honduran families are scraping together money to pay coyotes to smuggle their kids through Mexico and across the US border.  There are no opportunities in Central America, see, and poor healthcare, and violence, and so forth, and what parent wouldn't want his or her children to escape to America?  We'd be crazy right-wingers to not welcome these children and young adults to our country.

It isn't true.  Americans are not being told the truth by our government, by politicians in both political parties. The truth is that open borders have drawn people from all over the world, according to this report leaked by Customs and Border Protection.
Among the significant revelations are that individuals from nations currently suffering from the world’s largest Ebola outbreak have been caught attempting to sneak across the porous U.S. border into the interior of the United States. At least 71 individuals from the three nations affected by the current Ebola outbreak have either turned themselves in or been caught attempting to illegally enter the U.S. by U.S. authorities between January 2014 and July 2014.
The only ones who are counted are the ones who were apprehended, or who turned themselves in to authorities.  Isn't that comforting?
As of July 20, 2014, 1,443 individuals from China were caught sneaking across the porous U.S. border this year alone, with another 1,803 individuals either turning themselves in to U.S. authorities at official ports of entry, or being caught attempting to illegally enter at the ports of entry. This comes amid a massive crackdown by Chinese authorities of Islamic terrorists in the Communist nation
The list of nations from which those apprehended emanate includes: Pakistan, Syria, Egypt, China, Nigeria, Liberia, and Somalia.

Are we right to be angered?  Yes, we are.  And we should be.  The Obama administration's illegal lifting of laws and rules about immigration should make every American angry.  Every one of us.  Our nation is placed in danger by this administration's illegal activities.

Where are the politicians?  Where is the president?  If this is indeed a national emergency, why are they all on vacation?  True leadership would be the president staying in DC, and telling the leaders of both parties to do the same so they could sit down and hammer out a resolution to this.

Absent that, the opposition party should be in the courts everywhere they can be, petitioning for an order to tell the US government to enforce immigration laws now on the books.

There are no innocent sides in this argument.

A look back: Former Senator Jon Kyl related to constituents what Obama told him about "comprehensive immigration reform"

The problem is, . . . if we secure the border, then you all won’t have any reason to support ‘comprehensive immigration reform.’” [Audible gasps were heard throughout the audience.] Sen. Kyl continued, “In other words, they’re holding it hostage. They don’t want to secure the border unless and until it is combined with ‘comprehensive immigration reform.’”

"You know what the best predictor of future behavior is? Past behavior."

Excerpts of a National Review editorial "Wrong on Principles".

"The way to do enforcement first would be to pass enforcement bills and leave it at that. If the Senate passes them and the president signs them and subsequently enforces them after they survive legal challenge, well, then you have enforcement first. But everyone knows that none of this would happen — such bills wouldn’t pass the Senate, or even get a vote if Harry Reid had anything to say about it. And even if they did and the president signed them, no one can have any confidence that he would enforce them."

"For some reason, House Republicans have fastened on eventual citizenship as the key issue. It isn’t. What will matter most to the illegal population is getting legalized. The experience of the 1986 amnesty was that most formerly illegal immigrants didn’t take advantage of the opportunity to become citizens. And it is the legalization itself that will act as a magnet to new illegal immigrants. They will take notice that we eventually welcome anyone who manages to come here to live and work in defiance of our laws."

"House Republicans to Offer Broad Immigration Plan"

"House Republicans are preparing to unveil their own broad template for overhauling the nation’s immigration system this week, potentially offering a small opening for President Obama and congressional Democrats to pass bipartisan legislation before the end of the year."
Speaker John A. Boehner of Ohio and other Republican leaders are expected to release a one-page statement of immigration principles this week at their annual retreat in Cambridge, Md., according to aides with knowledge of the plan. The document is expected to call for border security and enforcement measures, as well as providing a path to legal status — but not citizenship — for many of the 11 million undocumented immigrants in the country, the aides said.
“The principles they lay out I’m sure won’t satisfy everybody,” Michael R. Bloomberg, former mayor of New York City, said at an immigration forum on Friday. But, he added, “if we can make some compromises here for the good of the country, I think we have a very good chance for the first time in a long time of changing something that is really damaging all of us.”

'Immigration Reform', or as I like to call it, 'Amnesty'

"A little over a week ago, 16 House Republicans--led by Rep. Mo Brooks (R-AL)--stepped forward to write to President Obama about how American workers would be displaced if these immigration reform proposals succeeded."

“Rapidly expanding unskilled immigration – at a time when factory work and blue collar jobs are disappearing – would represent the final economic blow for millions of workers who have been struggling to gain an economic foothold,” the members wrote. “Yet, despite this jobs crisis for American workers, the White House continues to advocate that CEOs and business executives seek lower cost labor. The White House has entertained a parade of high-powered business executives to discuss immigration policy, all while shutting out the concerns of everyday wage-earners who overwhelmingly oppose these measures. You even released an economic report saying that the ‘hospitality and leisure industry’ needs ‘legislation that would legalize workers in the U.S. and facilitate the lawful employment of future foreign-born workers.’”

"Legalizing illegal immigrants is the solution to Obamacare: Democrat"

"Rep. Jared Polis said Friday the key problem with health care right now is that illegal immigrants aren’t included in Obamacare, and said part of the solution is to pass a bill granting them citizenship rights."

First I thought, Sure go ahead Double Down. about a second later, however, I imagine republicans joining Rep Jared Polis in some sort of "bipartisan" bullshit.

That's what happens when you read Crack's blog. You get all depressed in the face of good news ;)
