I'm closing this blog

It has become incrementally clear to me that "free speech" as we once thought we enjoyed, as a right, is on the verge of disappearing.

It's too dangerous for me to continue to endorse this (free-for-all) blog given the "woke" nature of the company employing me. I've chosen to adapt to the new realities as I perceive them.

I'm not going to cite examples of what I'm talking about. Feel free to put them in the comments, if you want. I will be leaving the blog open for a few days, to give you fellas and madams an opportunity to comment, on the comment section, as you see fit.

The best example, if we are to look for one, can be found here in this blog. First I was given the boot by Amazon; they asked me to remove the code bearing their name from this blog. Their email said they found some irregularities with the way the purchases were being conducted. But i believe it was the content of the blog they really had a problem with.

Then Google ads gave me the boot. They were a little more forthcoming. They objected to the content and they said so.

So, that's where we are at. I wish I could promise a return in some not distant future, but my gut tells me these changes going on now have a permanent bent to them. There's no going back.

It has been a pleasure. I will continue to tweet. If you fellas and madams want to follow me i would really appreciate it. I go by lemang01 on twitter. I'm planning on using twitter to keep you informed on the progress i posted about here.

Thanks everybody.

Back to the Future?

George: You can sit around with the gin running out of your mouth; you can humiliate me; you can tear me to pieces all night, that's perfectly okay, that's all right.
Martha: You can stand it!
George: I cannot stand it!
Martha: You can stand it, you married me for it!

Asking for Donations

"When it comes to asking for donations, most of us head for the hills."
We get it. It’s intimidating to ask other people to part with their hard earned cash. They might ask, “Why?” And we might not have a great answer.
I'm very reluctant to ask for donations, but I really have to. Google is charging for this space. Please send whatever you can.

Smoke on the water, fire in the sky

This afternoon, I was at the community pool with the nephews, before a downpour came. While there I listened to this song and started thinking about the gripping story as told in the song. I have my settings on random, I never know what is going to play next.

Smoke on the Water, Fire in the Sky, is a song memorializing a nasty real life event in Montreux Switzerland. Somebody may have died in the fire, the song doesn't make that clear.
The song is honoured in Montreux by a sculpture along the lake shore (right next to the statue of Queen frontman Freddie Mercury) with the band's name, the song title, and the riff in musical notes.
I thought, why is it that we would never think of banning a song memorializing whatever, something or other, as easily as we seem eager to ban a flag?

I know, maybe I'm beating a dead horse, with yet another apparent confederate flag post. But maybe somebody can elucidate my puzzled mind... Smoke on the water, fire in the sky.

Now I cant stop listening to it.

One more Pizza Pie Post Please

Remember the fundraiser Chip posted about earlier, its over 3/4 of a million dollars by the way. And it's got some people really ticked off. Among them, an Alix Bryan, who works for a local news station says she "reported" (to the authorities?) the fund for fraud "just in case". (see tweet above)

"Just in case", isn't that the crux of the Memories Pizza witch-hunt. Nothing like what the Social Justice Warriors are claiming the RFRA law will do has even happened yet. But they are out to intimidate and disrupt peoples livelihood, on the slim chance someone may discriminate, "just in case".

Public accommodation for me, but not for thee. It's a two way street in this country and thank the lord for that this good Friday. and thanks for reading this rant.

Thanks for the memories

I was thinking of a song to sign for the holiday season and something to do with thanks. So while this is not necessarily the best song I could have chosen it's really fun to do in ASL.

Jason Gaffney nails it.

And I mean it. I could not do better myself.

And right when I was becoming discouraged  too. I was looking for "Mad World," eminently signable, I looked at some fifteen or so videos and I see the kids all over the place.

Their tears are filling up their glasses
No expression
No expression

What kind of glasses? The girls think it is the type of glasses you wear on your face and the boys think it is the type of glass that contains a refreshing beverage.

What kind of expression? Facial Expression? Body expression? One guy does a very good two hands form straight line across the lips, like a table in front of then on both sides of the lips so the lips look like they were pulled into a straight line for a deadpan expression.

And it is a slow song too. Except the Tears for Fears version is faster. One girl does a very good interpretation with the speeded up version. If you stick with it she turns into a tiger. Because she's quite mad, you see. She says the word "no" the way I said "no" emphatically to my friends and cracked them up laughing because it is so childishly wrong. It is like an alligator mouth that starts wide open and snaps shut to an improperly formed "n." and that is wrong, a better one is starting out with a sizzling "n" and snap it into an "o," rudely. But to connote "empty" or "nothing" or "nil" then two "O's" almost touching and shaking together is the best one of all to use in this situation but not used in any of the pages of videos that I watched.

Unrelated to all that Jason Gafney's video pops up among the search results with a different song altogether and he is best of all. I haven't heard this song Thanks fo the memories until this morning.

The singer is taunting an ex-lover. Dumped because "he tastes like you only sweeter."

Well.

Perhaps Jason Gaffney has more excellent ASL videos worth looking into. Turns out he does!

Did I say ASL video just now? I meant to say anti-Romney video.
