An operatic aria was sung at the RNC. Picked, we're told, by the God Emperor of the Cherry Blossom Throne hisself. On the surface, big whoop, right?
Well, turns out this aria is played at the end of The Sum Of All Fears, a political thriller based on a Tom Clancy novel. An attempt is made on the US President. It fails and the good guys have to find out who is behind it, which they do and see to it all are executed.
As the screen fades to black, what music is played? Pavarotti's rendition of Nessum Dorma.
And that has people who have heard about the connection wondering.
As we've said here before, never pick a fight with a man whose favorite author is Sun Tzu.

Melania made mention of his love of music in her statement/letter following the shooting.
She listed it along with three other hallmarks of his passion--his laughter, ingenuity, and inspiration.
"A monster who recognized my husband as an inhuman political machine attempted to ring out Donald’s passion - his laughter, ingenuity, love of music, and inspiration. The core facets of my husband’s life - his human side - were buried below the political machine. Donald, the generous and caring man who I have been with through the best of times and the worst of times."
Not only was the letter personal and on point, revealing her dignity and her heart, she also owned the convention crowd when she walked in wearing a red suit just prior to Trump's acceptance speech. Perfect timing. She came through as Elegant, Beautiful, Open yet Contained, her own person, conveying the 3 C's of health and well-being: Clear, Confident and Centered. The contrast between the presence she exuded and the center stage fussing, control and redirection the FLOTUS has been exhibiting was notable, there for the world to see.
Thanks for the music note, edutcher. I heard it, with awareness of what the words at the end signified, but didn't know the other part of the story.
