""[Said Webb,] The Democratic Party is heavily invested in interest-group politics," he said, and that could exclude groups it means to include, responding to a question about his reluctance to embrace the Black Lives Matter movement and to call on the removal of the Confederate flag from federal grounds.
In an email to reporters on Monday evening, Webb's campaign said that he is considering running as an independent.
But on Tuesday, he said only that he was considering the possibility. "We intend to spend the next couple of weeks talking to people," he said. "People I have not felt comfortable talking with as a Democratic candidate, but a number of people who have reached out over the past year who have encouraged me to run."
Webb said he “would have significant financial help” if he ran as independent, based on what people have told him.
He also said he believed he could beat Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton in a general election. “If we ran an independent race that worked and got traction, I honestly could see us beating both of them.""

Give it up, man.
hillary's evil demons talking to you, dude.
Write another novel, Jimbo.
I assume he's doing all this to sell books. While in the Senate he was a Harry Reid Democrat voted for Obamacare and almost every other liberal measure. Now, when it doesn't count, he's Mr. Independent again.
Maybe he should run. Maybe America wants a man who supports abortion and gun rights. Who's for and against Obamacare. Who's for affirmative action for white men. And wants to control the border but give free stuff and amnesty to illegal aliens.
Maybe Jim Webb is a LBJ Democrat. Likes Defense spending, if a Hawk on Foreign policy (sometimes) and likes to talk populist/conservative when stumping for votes, but votes liberal once he gets back in DC.
In 1960 people thought LBJ was the conservative alternative to JFK. LoL.
Democrats don't identify with war heroes these days.
Ask Bernie Sanders.
Who is Jim Webb? That is rhetorical, but I suspect that a substantial majority of Americans don't know who he is.
Lem for the win.
If you think The Donald will go third party, Trump/Webb.

Who is Jim Webb?
He's the guy who wrote "By the Time I Get To Phoenix", "MacArthur Park", "Up, Up, And Away", and "Wichita Lineman"
