Hopefully, the last (for a while)

OK, Trump has his 312 electoral votes, which includes no less than 8 states flipped. All things being equal, an impressive win.

But things might have been better. Jason Meister, Trump's polling guru, thought he'd hit between 308 and (are you ready?) 400 electoral votes. Insane, you say? Well, when you consider he came very close in Jersey and pretty close in, of all places, IL, it may not have been so crazy, after all.

For a laugh, I made a list of states the Trump campaign thought doable and, yeah, it would have made 400.

NY - 28

NJ - 14

NH - 4

ME - 4

NM - 5

CO - 10

VA - 13

MN - 10

I wish we did better on Senators, but if we keep the House it will be a pretty great night. A very good night for Donald Trump (and the USA).

I do too. It's extremely close for Rogers in MI and it looks like he's lost by a squeak. Which is sort of good news, as it means the machine has been shaken. The Dems in MI had a huge war chest going in. What makes the wins and almost wins so impressive is the fact that they happened in spite of having less money to spend and the media in opposition. Can you imagine if the funds were equal and the media was fair?

Surber's post on Ballot Harvesting and Republican adaptations brought new awareness. https://donsurber.substack.com/p/republicans-learned-to-ballot-harvest

Michigan is full of hunters, with a strong Amish community settled here by a group from OH. (Side note, one of the wealthy leaders of that community started a small barn/shed building business in the attic of his barn at home and it is is now a hugely successful enterprise, with his tech help and hi/lo drivers coming in from the outside.)
