Maron is a good interviewer even though he is a commie cunt.

People got all spun up about his comments because it seemed anti-gay when it was only anti-inauthenticity. Basically, The Power of the Dog (the movie he was referring to) uses the old west as a backdrop for a psychological thriller with themes about gayness, repressed gayness, nearly underage gayness, and just SO MUCH gayness. Like Brokeback wasn't enough. Apparently, everyone in the old west was gayer than a picnic basket filled with $3 bills. But unlike Brokeback Mountain, the "old west" background wasn't even filmed in the west. I mean, if you want people to take your gay premise seriously, then maybe lend some authenticity to the background. Places have a feeling to them, and independent meaning, too. Take something seriously other than the gayness. Otherwise you leave the impression that nothing else is really important.
