And also for "slope." Never heard that one before. Apparently it refers to slanted eyes. They were regarding a bridge when an Asian walked onto it. Jeremy said, "Yeah, it's got a slope on it." Caught all kind of poo for that.

What a cracker. What a limey. What a redcoat. What a sassenach, what a donny, what a tyke, what a yourkie. What a fuc'n dummkopf.

Why is a couple-of-years-old, discarded take suddenly being leaked?

I have no idea.

The full term is slopehead.

They're getting weird in Blighty.

Oh stop pussyfooting around. He should committed seppuku the second the word even crossed his mind. How can we let this man live among us?

The Spanish Inquisition had nothing on the present meter-outers of PC terror. In fact today's inquisitors are far worse in that at least the Spanish inquisitors had as their final goal the saving of souls gone wrong, damned souls, not the extinction of an "enemy" for the sheer joy of it.

What do you call it when you attack and ostracise people only of a certain skin color or ethnicity for things that everyone does? Is there a word for holding some people's behavior as unacceptable solely because of their skin color or ethnicity. Like when Blacks could get in big trouble for just looking at or talking to a White girl. Damn, I know there is word for that, but I'm drawing a blank here.
I do remember that when that was done in the past, people would often accuse the minority of it, even when it was perfectly innocent and often when no real offense occurred. It was really about hatred, and it seemed that the hate itself and wallowing in it was often the sole payoff for the accusers. Ugly shit.

The semantic point of the jingle is to broadcast that you're making a random choice.

It happens to contain the word nigger. Big deal.

If you substitute negro, you get a spondee foot instead of a trochee foot, and your finger freezes.

Even worse would be colored person, beatwise.

It's like adding "under God."

Can't remember which of my 1st grade buds first figured out that the rhyme in question wasn't a randomization device, but I do know that "tiger" maintained the verse's magnificent poetic qualities quite well.

One of Agatha Christie's most popular books was entitled: "Ten little Niggers". She would now be put in Jail in the UK for racist language.

The Limey's are now a bunch of Toffee-Nosed Wankers.

This is close to parody. He muttered the word under his breath and took pains not to broadcast it. The point of the rhyme was not to spread hatred or inflict harm but to make a random choice. Those people who are calling for his resignation or banishment are far more into the infliction of intentional cruelty than he is.

What the hell...OT...rhhardin...if you are reading here, I love how your new dog has grown from little puppy to big puppy. Beautiful dog. A fitting successor to Vickie. I wish I knew the puppy's name...one of these times put it up on your blog posts. Please.

We are considering a new dog to go along with "Dera" but not committed yet...e.g., we want "Dera" to be number one for now.

I know I anthropomorphize dogs, and horses, more than I should. No matter, they serve to civilize me very well. Otherwise I am the violent barbarian. Your Vickie got me to thinking about a Doberman (as I've said before) so my interest in the puppy is germane. Dobe or GSD ....both are working dogs.

Back on topic...Jeremy Clarkson is one of the very few cable television personalities (BBC) who actually can make me laugh.

rhhardin said...

The pup is Julie.

On anthropomorphizing, people do it too little. For which see Vicki Hearne's _Adam's Task_

Thanks, rhhardin, for refreshing my memory (old fart excuse) since I think I read that once before.

I've got the original old SV version of Schutzhund Training (unlike most techniques today which are much improved in today's world, less Prussian now), most of Ivan Balabanov's books, Temple Grandin's, and now I will order Adams Task.

The synopsis sounds like it is something I've observed my self without documenting it. Both dogs and horses. There is no question that I have been outsmarted, creatively, by some of my dogs..."Ari" being the most pronounced intelligence and personality. Much of his behavior was uncanny...and silent when necessary.

My father told of nightmares in which he saw a huge black man standing at the foot of his bed holding him by the toe. And would not let him go. and tried to make him pay. fifty dollars every day.

He really did have the nightmare.
