I wouldn't be caught dead watching the Emmy's or the Oscars or the Grammy's since they are just long winded attacks by Hollywood on normal traditional Americans. But I do catch up on the controversy on the Internet. This year douche nozzle Scott Spicer couldn't wait to curry favor with liberal Hollywood. He doesn't get that they are laughing at him not with him. What was even worse was something that should be totally non controversial. The In Memoriam part where they recognize the TV performers who passed away.
They left off Harry Dean Stanton who was great in many shows from Westerns to his tour de force on Big Love where he played the Mormon prophet. Now he just croaked so maybe he meets next years list.
But they left off Joanie. Was it because she used to bang Chachi and he is a Trump supporter? Erin Moran was ignored. She had a tough life the last few years and these Hollywood phonies had no compassion for her troubles.
Veteran character actor Richard Anderson, 91, was also left off. You remember him. He was the boss on "The Six Million Dollar Man" and the "The Bionic Woman." He also was one of the go to guys for generic white guy authority figures. Must be why they left him off.
But they also left off Elena Verdugo, 92, who played the nurse Consuelo Lopez on "Marcus Welby, M.D." First Mexican who had a prime time series role not named Pancho.
All in all it seems like they screwed it up. They have very little reverence for the history of TV. Ratings are way down of course. Mainly because the prizes go to shows on cable or streaming services. So a lot of people don't know the actors or the shows that won.
In fact one of the stars said she doesn't even own a TV. The should have real TV fans make the awards. But that would make too much sense.
What a boatload of crap.

When I was young, which lasted a ridiculously long time, I really believed the meaning of life could be found in or revealed in a great American movie, such as On The Waterfront. Yes, I was that naive. Now I realize that calling show biz just that, show biz, is accurate. It's a biz that is in the biz of bringing entertainment, which is to say momentary release and relief from the normal stress of quotidian existence. On that score it's been a dismal failure for the past thirty odd years -- to me. Probably not to the young, whose standards regarding what will satisfy, like mine when I was young, are laughably low.
When will YouTube put on it's own award show. The Youbees would last for days. The cat video nominations would take a day themselves.
What is the cutoff for memoriums? Just curious.
Apparently, they hit a record low this year (the Emmys were always the poor stepchild of the Oscars); ironic since the chi-chi crowd considers this the Third Golden Age of TV.
Well, you pick a sanctimonious jerk for the host, add a lot of actors nobody ever heard of, give awards to shows nobody's watched, stir in shots at a President who's made 2 trips to TX, a trip to LA, and a couple of trips to FL while the attendees are best known for hoping the season gives us another Katrina, and fold in everything these morons can think of to alienate the country, so I'd guess they've got a winning recipe.
PS The Lefties make large of the fact Baldwin, FAG Prez, got an Emmy while Trump never got one.

It was a shame about Erin's sad ending. The article I read about it had one person commenting that though she kept to herself, she was polite and had a friendly hello, and didn't act like she was better than anyone else.
That is so true Deb. I really feel bad for her. She had a tough life after "Happy Days" and it was just sad. Her family ripped off her money and she ended up living hand to mouth.
In all seriousness may God have Mercy on her Soul.
She was rocket launched but never achieved orbit. It seemed like an unhappy life, especially towards the end, but she also had some moments of glory. I wonder if those moments were a consolation or an aggravation to recall when she fell on hard times. Most people who live in straitened circumstances don't have any glory days to recall. I don't think that makes the dreariness of their lives anymore endurable.......Elena Verduga, who I just heard of, had a modest start in B-pictures, but had a long career and a long life. It's a long race, and you can't predict the winner by whose leading at the first turn.
My own life has consistently sucked, but it really, really sucked during my childhood and adolescence. I look back and think I'm glad that's over and rejoice. Maybe that's a better place than looking back and thinking those glory days are gone forever and will never come again. If you had a happy childhood, the down side is that you will never be that happy again. The plus side of an unhappy childhood is that you will never again be quite so miserable.
Hollywood is no place to raise your kids. So many child stars flame out because they never learn how people really live, everything's handed to them to keep them happy and producing and they get so entitled. They are used and abused. Only the smart ones survive, usually by staying in the industry. (See, e.g., Jodie Foster, Ron Howard. Arguably, Scott Baio. He seems to be doing okay. Chachi and Joanie didn't love each other all that much, though.)
Like sports, I've pretty much tuned out most tv entertainments. I stream the stuff I want to see. That certainly does not include industry award shows. Ew.
I didn't realize that Erin Moran had such nice boobies.
