Did I show you this already? Stop me if I did. There is another offering, a boy with an antelope around his neck. The plaster on that one is loaded with shredded currency creating a fuzzy surface. That one is quick painting and no carving to it.
I took this picture to test if my phone would still take one and download one. Surprise! It does. This is the fidelity the 420 rally would allow. It is not so terrible, for a phone. I should stop complaining. But I won't.
Turns out one of my favorite things. A framed copy of this hangs in somebody's home, taking first place of the lot. Everybody asks about it and that makes me squee. It was commissioned by a person I know but it is their spouse who flipped out when the piece was brought home. That was fun. Really fun.
I poured twenty-four more copies and I still own all those. Every detail comes through with those latex mold, every hair, every crack. At first I poured twelve and painted them all green same interior house paint as a room and attached them tile-like to produce a 3-d wall and the whole thing was extraordinary, I thought just what I wanted, then I moved. I poured twelve more and painted those randomly and rapidly and carelessly and those plus the greens making twenty-four made up a new wall at the new place. Then I moved. Now they are all in a box waiting to be used somehow. They can become another wall or they can be framed and sold separately. The mold is destroyed.
But I could make another mold if I want to, I still have this original.

Beautiful, Chip.
I like.
One thing stumps me:
The plaster on that one is loaded with shredded currency creating a fuzzy surface.
...
I should stop complaining. But I won't.
I should too, but I probably won't either.
It's a sacrifice. We considerer it unseemly or something.
I follow a Tweeter whose presence is correcting spelling of Mexican publications.
When a discussion ensued about the motivation for her meticulous proclivity, I tweeted what I thought would be taken as praise.
I admired her 'abnegation'.
She tweeted back, seemingly distressed, that she was certainly not. I believe she associated the word with some kind of indignation... an indignity, subjugation even. Maybe.
Tweeter is very limiting.
When some politicians used to talk of trimming down the debt ( they don't even talk about it anymore) the word sacrifice would often pop up.
It has very little appeal, as far as I've been able to surmise.
It seems to connote unnecessariness.
When Chip posted that wonderful VJ day footage from Hawaii, I attached it to a re-tweet of national debt tweet.
The two "celebrations" just seemed to connect at that moment.
The debt is our just rewards, we must be telling ourselves, I thought.
Is it too much of a stretch?
National debt re-tweet
After the 9/11/2001 attacks, when Bush recommended Americans resume their lives, do some more shopping to revive the economy, show the terrorist we would not be cowed in fear...
Historian Doris Kearns Goodwin went on Meet the Press, with Russert, and said other presidents would not have done that, other presidents would recommended the opposite, other presidents would have recommended "sacrifice".
One quarter the economy grew over 7%.
Shouldn't those eggs be dyed?
Obama keeps saying there is no debt.
lol Sixty. Chip you missed a perfect opportunity yesterday :)
That's funny. I forgot it had giant eggs.
Man, think of the design possibilities with all that surface area!
Wonderful stuff!
