“Jonny Quest” was by far my favorite cartoon as a kid. I even bought it on DVD when my son was little so that he could watch it. That and the collected cartoons of Tex Avery.
Another contender is Sandy Nelson, a surf drummer from that era. Listen to the beat of this song and compare it to the Jonny Quest theme. The styles are similar and both are very Gene Krupa inspired.

I never watched Johnny Quest - based on credit sequence it looks better than most live action shows made this century.
