I have a vague memory of seeing the show. I think Yancey was going for a Rhett Butler look. So too was James Garner on Maverick. For me, anyway, Maverick was the best show of that era.
Yancy (and his Indian sidekick Pahoo) was one of the most popular shows on TV. It only lasted two seasons because "Yancy" owned the series rights, CBS wanted to buy him out, and when he refused, in a moment of pique & spite, CBS cancelled the series.

That is an odd song, but at least it includes the theme music from the show, so that helps.
The theme for the show was an old piece of background music. It's heard, f'rinstance, on "The Jeweled Gun" episode of Maverick.
"The hills of Idaho?"

Maverick, Hill St Blues, and Game of Thrones are the only three shows that I can remember going out of my way too see.
You need to check out "The Wire" Wiilliam.
