Summer versus winter

Bet you can't guess which one I prefer. The first picture was taken last July, the second this morning.

Yeah, but in winter...no bug spray!

Looks like a heavy, wet snow. For all you shut ins. My bride and I just finished a superb western miniseries on Netflix, called Godless. For all you Downton Abbey fans, you get to see Lady Mary Crawley's tits. My bride pointed out the Downton Abbey connection.

I like winter from December 21 to January 2. Then I want it gone. We're supposed to go back up to 40 degrees this Friday.

We have been experiencing the mildest winter that I can recall. Temperatures in the 40's to even low 60! Unheard of. Just a bit of rain. Zero snow and very few days/nights which are below freezing.

Normally we would be in the single digits at night, barely breaking freezing and have snow as well as permafrost.

The plants are all confused. Daffodils already poking their heads up above the ground. The fruit trees seem to be contemplating budding out. Since we will probably get a hard freeze later in Feb., I don't expect to have any or much fruit this year. THANK GOD!! I don't want to deal with all those apples, pears, plums, cherries etc.

While winter has been nice for us, it doesn't bode well for the rest of California as the snow pack is pretty slim.

But...whaddya gonna do? We can't change it. Just enjoy and live with it.

You are correct, DBQ, and the good news is that it will be 60 here by Sunday.

It is still snowing here and we have gotten over 10 inches in one day. Not the biggest snow storm I've seen here, but it's up there.

Now if only those old storms had names - I could compare and contrast.

JK!

Thanks for the tip, Spins, I have started watching Godless, and since it might be days until I can get outside, I might finish it up.

It took me a minute but then it dawned on me that the "squirrel eatin'" guy is Sam Waterson from Law & Order.

The visuals are great, and some of them don't even seem to be CGI - how cool is that?

Sixty, Prego. Some good characters in Godless. They're lobbying for a 2nd season and have a decent chance. Lot's of women characters for the #MeToo crowd! That's how I would pitch it if I were a producer. T Bone Burnett is the musical director.

I prefer spring and wish spring would last longer. Here it's short, eaten by a winter that won't go away and a summer that smothers too soon.

We are in a drought pattern again. Our front range is like southern CA - a tinderbox, waiting for a spark.

You prefer.... summer. The trees might fall over!

Trees always fall over in the forest, that fact knows no season, I just don't always hear them.

High temps today, 37, then 39, 36, 36, 29, 19, 21, 28... The big chill seems to be over. Winter is not over, but it appears that more normal temps are in order. Which is such a relief.
