Via Instapundit: FBI agents seized smashed computer hard drives from the home of Florida Democratic Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz’s information technology (IT) administrator, according to an individual who was interviewed by Bureau investigators in the case and a high level congressional source.
Pakistani-born Imran Awan, long-time right-hand IT aide to the former Democratic National Committee (DNC) Chairwoman, has since desperately tried to get the hard drives back, the individual told The Daily Caller News Foundation’s Investigative Group.

ABC, NBC, CBS, -- all over it.
Not.
Clean up on aisle 1.
My initial thoughts on this is the FBI let someone know in advance of the raid.
Last year my hard drive crashed, and I had to have another installed. They said nothing was recoverable so I lost my pictures, documents, favorites, and maybe some other things. Then, this year I accidentally wiped out my desktop stuff. While trying to recover the desk top, I did something to make my desktop info from years ago, show up. So, there is still stuff in your computer that can be recovered. All of your emails can be loaded again, because your email provider has that info. Same with my Ancestry site with all of the pictures and my family tree. It was all there.
Waitaminit, I read she was demanding them back from the D.C. police so she could destroy them. Then I read the FBI had them. Then I read the FBI destroyed them. Now this story. So confusing! Maybe there are a lot of computers involved and scattered about in various places in various stages of smashedness. That must be a good job in DC: computer smasher. Though the probably French it up and call it Evidence Defenestration Specialist.
Depends on what was done to the hard drives.
Good forensics guys can recover more than most people imagine.
PS Somebody panicked, so you can bet the info is out there somewhere.

Buy a couple or more thumb drives and copy your files to them. Thumb drives can go bad too. Keep one in a safe space away from where your computer is located. Update them once a week.
Thanks, I wrote down thumb drives. The Walmart should have them.
Check out external drive casing for the size drive you have. Usually a bad hard drive is just a few sectors which prevent the OSfrom properly function. Attach it to another computer with good drive and similar OS; and you can usually read data in the good sectors, which is typically a large amount of it.
