We don't need to create hypotheticals to figure out that, if Comey had said the same about President Trump or Attorney General Sessions, the media would have spread that info like wildfire. CNN must have thought he was saying Sessions had asked him to not call the Russia probe an "investigation," because they put out as much in their app's alert system. They actually had to release a clarification once they realized their falsehood. So, it's fair to say that the mainstream media is totally biased about this testimony. If he says the Trump administration tried to block an ongoing investigation, it's huge news; but if he says the Obama administration tried to cover up the Hillary scandal, it's a minor clarification (if even that).

"Comey: Obama's Administration Asked Me to Cover up Investigation Into Hillary Clinton"

The Beast may have to start practicing her swoon and her twitch.
Oh, and that maniacal laugh.
Well, so much for the impeachment of Trump. Once this is over, it won't be the Trump crew that looks, bad, but the Democrats.
This is hearsay testimony. Where is there proof that anyone in the Clinton camp asked him to cover up the HRC investigation? I'm defending HRC or her actions. I'm attacking Comey's direct testimony in what he is saying that Loretta Lynch called him and told him to cover it up. Put up proof and in that same vein, who in the Trump Administration, including Trump himself lied to your or your investigators about Russian collusion to rig the election? Where is the proof? Just Comey saying it doesn't make it true. I want to see the evidence.
There is no evidence. For anything.
So, did anyone catch Trump's lawyer's speech at the National Press Club? I suspect that much shorter discussion ran up the tap in most DC bars.
Comey is a drama queen and an attention whore. The FBI has a long tradition of girly men in the top spot and he is just the latest in a long line of poofters mishandling law enforcement.
I am upset that Trump named Chris Christies bag man as the director. He should have named a field agent. I would have found the guy with the most shooting incidents and named him director. Then I would tell him to go out and shoot terrorists. Especially known lone wolves. Find them. Shoot them. Throw down a piece and say they had it on them at the time. Old school.
It's time to stop fucking around with these camel jockeys.
Mueller has authority to follow this to Lynch. I would be surprised if he did. All these folks are Big Govt. and they take care of their own. What all should concern themselves w/ is if Trump fires AG Henry Gibson and puts an outsider in that post. Of course, he would have to get him/her confirmed.
"Accountant faggots" from an accountant. Don't be so hard on your profession. I know a few good bean counters, yourself among them. My bean counter is sharp. I hired him when I incorporated in the early 90's. He read me right. Just tell me what I need to do to not violate the law. Make simple suggestions if you think wise, don't raise any flags w/ the IRS, Don't call me unless it's important, and don't pad your bill. I've stuck w/ him even though retired and don't need a fairly high priced CPA, which he is.

I think that just happened.

If he says she said something to him, I don't think that qualifies as hearsay (you may want to go someplace else and ask some nice lady); IIRC hearsay is when you overheard 2 other people talking (if I'm wrong on that, I will happily stand corrected).

I think he wanted his own guy, as in somebody he owns.
If so, both the Demos and the Whigs better lawyer up.
Comey should be up for sainthood.
My mother told me?
I was too tired to go to work for the temp agency today. The Comey hearing played no role in the matter. I swear 😉
As soon as Comey admitted he leaked his conversation with Trump to the media- I knew Trump did the right thing.
What a fuckhead.
It took you that long, Rene?
Ed,
Here is the legal definition of hearsay: http://legal-dictionary.thefreedictionary.com/hearsay
Hearsay
A statement made out of court that is offered in court as evidence to prove the truth of the matter asserted.
Further criteria:
Hearsay comes in many forms. It may be a written or oral statement; it also includes gestures. Essentially anything intended to assert a fact is considered a statement for the purposes of the Hearsay Rule. A nodding of the head may be a silent assertion of the word yes. A witness pointing to a gun may be asserting, "That is the murder weapon." Even silence has been accepted as a statement, as when a passengers' failure to complain was offered to prove that a train car was not too cold (Silver v. New York Central Railroad, 329 Mass. 14, 105 N.E.2d 923 [1952]).
Comey's testimony was given under oath, no? In a Senate committee chambers of the Senate, which would qualify as a court where testimony is given, no?
Leland - Last July, when Comey laid out the recommendation for a Hillary Clinton indictment, and then did a 180 and pulled it all off the table - that was the first time that I realized he was a fuckhead.
I listened to most of Comey's testimony today, and all I am saying is that today's testimony, on his admitting he called a professor at Columbia law to leak his conversation with Trump to the Media - that was the moment today when I realized that he is a fuckhead. emphasis on today. Fuckhead confirmation.
Meth is correct, that is hearsay. There are some exceptions to the hearsay rule where what someone said to you is admissible. Deathbed statements are admissible. However, you must establish the person clearly understood he was dying. Another is the excited utterance exception. I believe that exception was established in a case when a child was raped and yelled to the mailman, "That man just hurt me" pointing to the shitbird.
Amartel could expand and clarify, he's a barrister.
I'm just saying I knew Trump did the right thing when I learned that he lied to Congress about how the classified files ended up on Weiner's laptop. I believed his testimony at the time, because I wanted to believe that not only was Huma baffled about how to handle classified data, but also retained an undue since of royalty that she would send classified data to her lousy husband to print. But that's not how it happened, despite what Comey said to Congress. What happened is she stupidly backed up her classified blackberry device to an unclassified laptop at hand. I don't know about others, but in my book, one telling smacks a bit more at criminal negligence than the other. That Comey would be so careless regarding evidence/testimony of a high crime was sufficient knowledge that Trump did the right thing in firing Comey.
Meth, In a Congressional Hearing, although sworn testimony, the rules of evidence don't apply.

Understood. Just adds to the political kabuki theater that DC loves to put on display. I swear to God that entire town is rubbing its collective bean at what happened today. They live for this shit.

You know why, because Comey decided all on 'his own' that the intent of HRC criminality wasn't there and if the intent or motive to commit a crime wasn't there, then it isn't a prosecutable crime and no prosecutor could convict her under those circumstances. Pure unadulterated bullshit. That TV briefing last July was utterly unprecedented. I've never seen anything like it in my life, that a sitting FBI director would go on national television and recount the crimes of Hillary Clinton in which his prior congressional testimony was that she lied on several occasions, her cadre lied on several occasions to federal investigators and in the next breath claim that she is unprosecutable. WHAT. THE. FUCK.

I think a crime was committed here and he should be prosecuted for it, but alas, the two-tiered justice system will come into play. He will never see a courtroom. Everyone gets to fucking skate.
Comey dropped some truth bombs, too. He pointed out the the NYT prints nonsense.
he pointed out that YES indeed- Trump is not under investigation.
I think Comey was also right about being weak. On that, he spoke truth to um power.
Hey Troop, speaking of the olden days, who do you like for the murder of Dom Ciscone? You knew him, right?
