Who deserves the "Damn, they really were right" award?

Dimitri Mendeleev, who wrote the periodic table. At the time, there were dozens of gaps in it, and he said those were for elements that hadn't yet been discovered. He was ridiculed for positing that there still were undiscovered elements, but within 10-20 years, other scientists began discovering some of those missing elements, validating Mendeleev. Fortunately he was still alive then and lived to see his theory proved.

John Lennon's assertion that the US government was spying on him. He sounded paranoid and full of himself. Thanks to freedom of information, we've learned that he was completely correct. Nixon looked for any reason to deport him.

Harry Markopolis
tl;dr he knew what Bernie Madoff was doing and tried to warn people. He wrote a book later called "No One Would Listen"

Robеrt boіsjoly, the Morton thіokol engіneer who correсtly predіcted that the challenger's SRB o-rings would fail leading to LOCV.

Charles Darwin, who noted his theory had plenty of holes.

(Lefties don't understand the word, theory)

It was Mendeleev's assistant, Igor Chicklet, who told Gregor to leave a few holes in his periodic table...for interest sake. Chicklet's exact words were "Don't be such a country bumpkin, Gregor, open ended theories have more appeal to the deep state."

I don't need an award, but I wouldn't mind a pair of push buttons on the order of the Staples "That Was Easy" Button, with one making an emphatic "You were right" statement and the other issuing an "I could be wrong" reminder.

As for Igor Chicklet, BooHooslav Brauner could not be reached for comment, and neither could his mentor Bunsen of burner fame.

Though this was said about Bunsen:

He was one of the most universally admired scientists of his generation. He was a master teacher, devoted to his students, and they were equally devoted to him. At a time of vigorous and often caustic scientific debates, Bunsen always conducted himself as a perfect gentleman, maintaining his distance from theoretical disputes. He much preferred to work quietly in his laboratory, continuing to enrich his science with useful discoveries. As a matter of principle he never took out a patent. He never married.
Despite his lack of pretension, Bunsen was a vivid "chemical character," had a well-developed sense of humor, and is the subject of many amusing anecdotes.

Truth be told, all this came about because I fell for the Igor Chicklet moniker thinking there can't be two such individuals, which is testimony to my naivete or my mental state, maybe both.

C-r-a-z-y Whitaker Chambers. Seems like every person he identified as a Commie - was actually a commie. Even the ones who denied it to their dying breath.

In his last year, Earnest Hemingway thought the FBI was putting him under surveillance too. But he was going crazy, so no one believed him. But they were keeping tabs on "Papa". 'cause "papa" had been a commie sympathizer, among other things. Even Paranoids have enemies.

Remember all the people in the 20s/30s that laughed at Freud? They were written off as "anti-science". But they were right.

Seems like all the people who thought butter was healthier than Margarine were right too.

Cassandra was pretty fun too. I hold with the snake licking theory.

My dad, a dentist who made glass eyes for the wounded during WW2, was right when he said humans have yet to come up with replacement body parts that surpass the design and function of a healthy original part. Although he said that over 25 years ago, I believe it's still true.

While I'm not willing to give her an award, I'll offer one chocolate in the Valentine Box to Emily Post, who came through this weekend after one of the MSons hosted a weekend party (of millennial friends) that didn't turn out as well as hoped, due to some gaps in experience and awareness on both sides regarding the responsibilities of hosts and guests. Who'd have thought Ol'Emily would have the answer and be applicable in this day and age, but she did and was, providing this simple and clean advice in an online format that could be easily read and received:

Rules and tips like these exist because they work to maintain order and keep things in balance. On this subject, those who've Gone Before, Been There and Done That before were and are right.

That Lord Kelvin guy, spectacularly brilliant in his way, is now widely considered to have been spectacularly wrong about the age of the Earth, so maybe we should all just stay tuned and see how things shake themselves out.

Hey, you are speaking against the truthiest truthsaying lightworker that ever worked light truth and that. WILL. NOT. STAND.
(racist.)
You CAN keep your doctor
-on hold when he calls you with results
-tied up in the basement during hostage negotiations
-if you're willing to pay full price
I mean, that's the truth, right?
You CAN do those things. Keep your doctor or even like to keep your doctor. You CAN.
YES WE CAN!!!

Rasputin. He told the Czar that if he went to war he would lose his crown and Russia would lose its empire. He was the only one in the Czar's circle of advisers who counseled against war. Rasputin was ignorant, superstitious, crass and right.
