A big test for the Trump administration.....will President Trump go to the White House Correspondents dinner?
Every year Washington insiders and the media jerk each other off at the White House Correspondents dinner. This dinner often devolves into a "roast" where stupid skits and lame jokes are thrown back and forth between the media and government officials. Nothing good ever comes out of it. I remember when George W Bush was savaged about the jokes he made by the media. Then there was the time that Obama and Seth Meyers went after Trump unceasingly. That sort of backfired since it was the impetus for him to run and to reverse the entire agenda of the Obama administration.
There is some speculation as to whether or not the President will attend. The douches that organize this sleazefest say that the show will go on no matter what. It is time to stick it up their ass.
President Trump has specialized in changing the paradigm. He doesn't do it the way it has always been done. He needs to say that he will not attend and that he advises members of his administration to not attend. Then fire anyone who does attend in an act of Yates defiance. He needs to cut off the oxygen of the press. They can have their little party where they talk amongst themselves.
I view this as an important test of their resolve. I know that President Trump is supremely confident and thinks that he can go there and beat them at their own game. Who knows maybe he can. But the better move is to choke them out. Choke off their access. Choke off their ratings. Choke off their money. Let them bring in Madonna and Meryl Streep and Bruce Springstein. Hey they might get ratings. But President Trump doesn't have to help them.
(By the way if you want to read a great recap of the relationship between Donald Trump and the Press you should get the great Don Surber's book "Trump the Press." It is a compilation of his reporting of the campaign and is a great real time recap of the last election.)

I agree He should stay away. Better yet send a midget to proclaim. "The President of the United States invites you to kiss his ass."
He might, only to drill them on a lot of their nonsense, but IIRC he didn't attend some function or other he was supposed to and the Lefties got the vapors, so it's a tossup.
He could send Conway and Bannon and have them bring Milo and Alex Jones as special guests.
Either way he wins because the spotlight is on him.
I disagree Ed. He needs to tell them to go screw. If the President and the rest of the Administration does not attend it will be a Democratic echo chamber of the Media and the Democrats. Let them talk to themselves. Why give them life.
They need to be strangled in the cradle.
It's a Demo echo chamber, anyway.
And he's strangling them in the press room, where it counts.
So why help them? Why give them the sound bites where people like Colbert and Myers and Kimmel and Corden bust on President Trump while he has to sit there? Let them shout in their echo chamber and leave it at that while the rest of the country goes about the business of "Making America Great Again."
At the last minute, Trump should schedule a major speech or event that occurs at the same time as the press/celebrity orgy. Maybe announce he's sending in the military to take over California. Something that'll cause progs' heads to blow up, real good.
Trump needs to go to the event dressed up like Pancho Villa, with all of the ammo and yuge guns.
He wouldn't need to say a word.
If he doesn't attend the drumbeat that he's humorless and not a good sport will be endless. More to lose by not showing than by showing and getting some zingers of his own in.
Trump should attend, Milo should officiate, and between them they will own the event and use the opportunity to continue slagging the hacks who will have to sit there and take it. That would pretty much end the event because none of them would want to come back.
The soundbites that we usually get from this tawdry affair is always some unfunny bullshit prog "comedy." This would be refreshing and real.
I think an alternative event might be a great idea. Something substantive like a TownHall in Chicago with gang leaders who want to end the violence. That would screw with them.
I just don''t think he should go and make the event for them. Just the same way as Trump supporters should not watch the Oscar or other Hollywood productions. Just as we should boycott the companies that protest Trump and support the ones that support his Policies.
It is a war to the knife.
Maybe announce he's sending in the military to take over California.
Good! He can ask the (unofficial) State of Jefferson Militia for some help guidance and directions through the wilderness. Sneak up on the bastards from behind :-) WE are armed and ready. /sarcasm just in case the NSA is watching
Hijack the event just like he's hijacking the government. What are they gonna do?
Burn a Starbucks?
Take their shirts off and shake their moobs at us?
Tweet something vulgar?
They are going to be douchebags.
Trump should say he is too busy for that, he has to work for the country.

In the immortal words of El Kabong, "Ho-Lay!".
It would be epic if he brought Milo.
He should go the Mets/Nationals game that day, throw out the first pitch, then root for the Mets.
I don't think he should go, but I think he will.
I think Trump likes mixing it up with the Press and everyone else.
He'll probably think they'll just come out with the same old tired Trump jokes that they've been telling for 1.5 years and he can zing them with good lines.
Another awesome thing would be to hold a military ball and attend it.
Trump should stay away, but live-tweet the event.
The Dems could invite Hillary or Barack and pretend that one of them was in power.
I don't see any upside for Trump. The speakers will be competing to see who can deliver the nastiest insult. That's their profession, and they're good at it. There's no graceful way for him to respond. He's better off just skipping it, or maybe visiting the wounded at a military hospital while the event is going on.
Have a gala with all funds raised going to St. Jude's.
I think he should go, but only to ruin their party.
He should take over the guest list and then invite teachers, firemen, cops, small business owners, retirees from across the country [ala Andrew Jackson] and un-invite the Hollywood crowd. That would make it very awkward for the MSM attendees. They'd have to mind their P's& Q's or get the snot beat out of them.
Why should he go to a party where it is known that everyone hates his guts? So he can sit there and be insulted and then they can say...hey we were just joking?
Tell the Press core to stuff it, he is doing his hair. Anything but lower yourself to this stupid tradition. Who SAYS it is tradition anyway? Make your own traditions.
Nope. Go to another more worthy event. Something to do with Veterans or meet with the inner city pastors and ex gang members to do a Make Detroit/Chicago/This Pig Pen Great Again Summit.
It seems there's been some rethinking from the White House correspondents themselves:
WHCD in trouble as parties cancel
I think that a lot of the parties to the dinner will cancel because they will not be able to get the guests they want. They are in a bind. Their hardcore devotees want them to disembowel Trump and that will alienate more then half of the electorate who is already avoiding them. They will never be able to satisfy the haters and the spectacle of nonstop bashing of Trump just validates his opinion of them.
They would be wise to cancel it.
I agree He should stay away. Better yet send a midget to proclaim. "The President of the United States invites you to kiss his ass."
Now that's actually funny! Good job, Trumpsters! ;-)
But I agree, he should stay away. He doesn't understand humor and he doesn't understand taking a joke.
So this would be the best way for him to at least demonstrate a respect for that 1st amendment that he seems to so misunderstand.
Do the right thing, Trump. Even if Muslims aren't involved.
Why should he go to a party where it is known that everyone hates his guts?
They don't hate him. They just don't know how to deal with a baby.
Tantrums were designed for 3-year olds. When 70-year old men pull that, they're usually given a tranquilizer.
Dealing with a grown man through "the terrible twos" is a daunting prospect.
Agreed DBQ. Make new traditions. The DNC hack press can go *up itself.

Doch
I say suspend it for couple years. This is worldwide trenchant warfare. Suspend the Olympics and the Nobel Prizes as well (except for Trump's Peace Prize :).
Tell the Press core to stuff it, he is doing his hair
DBQ FTW
I don't know who's doing his hair lately, but he seems to have taken direction. the color is better, more presidential.
No. I think they hate him. If they didn't they would realize that he is basically a conservative Democrat and has been one all his life. In fact by their very unreasonable behavior they are pushing Trump and the rest of the country into a very conservative direction.
They are cutting off their nose to spite their face. They can get a lot of things they want if they are just willing to negotiate and make a deal. Trump can bring along his supporters. The fringes on both ends will be left out in the cold.
