"Don’t laugh too much, Republicans. A decade ago, the GOP found itself out of touch with voters and devastated in national and state elections, and had to crawl back out of the holes in which they had dug for themselves. Now Democrats find themselves in much the same position — and probably worse — and have to find a way to reconnect to the voters that they’ve abandoned in favor of the hard-progressive identity politics that sells well in academia and urban enclaves."
Still, this description from Politico has a whiff of safari to it:...

Step one: Think of real people as humans
Step two: Treat real people as humans
Several more steps to go, but just those steps seem to be high hurdles for Democrats these days.
Ashley Judd, Madonna, Rachel Maddow the 15 year old boy, and Nancy Pelosi will show them the way.
grrrl power!
Step three: Go to where real people live. Shut up and listen.
But you can still think of them as racist, sexist, homophobic bitter clingers.
Whiny wealthy faux victim Meryl Streep has her finger on the pulse of this nation.
I'm convinced progressive+democrat+socialists will never be authentically concerned, as Chick would say, over anything but their own rice bowls.
The Geriatric Joke Party (Democrat) isn't out of touch. They want to be right where they are. They deliberately abandoned the people they claimed to represent, the common blue collar worker for mentally unhinged, emotionally deranged super minority fringe elements based on racial and identity politics instead. Then use their front line SJW warriors to enforce their rule and you wonder why they lost and keep losing. They have become nothing more than a cadre confederation of lunatic ideologies.
Hillary Clinton announced she was going on a "listening" tour at the outset of her campaign. It's not the first time she had done that either, the "listening tour." The lesson to take away is that you can go through the motions and make announcements all you want about the steps you are taking but it won't help unless you authentically hear peoples' concerns and come up with solutions that actually address those concerns (as opposed to just acknowledging them).
"....how to talk to real people...."
Real people: translation: the unconnected.
The Dems only hope for "connecting" to the despised deplorables depends on coming up with a new set of lies.
But since that's likely to fail they ought to decamp en masse for New Zealand with their bankster pals, who are all touting the place as utopia. Where they'll all be met, God willing, by enraged Maoris and earthquakes.

In Clintonese, a listening tour is that she tours places that listen to her.
You think about that, “how to talk to real people”, and you have to ask yourself, does that mean the Demos usually talk to surreal people?
Odds are, yes.
Clinton did her Midwestern "listening tour" in the tricked out Scooby van -- the one with a hospital bed and an on board EMT.
The HBO show Veep is pretty funny. There's a running joke about the VEEP going out among "the normals" and how contemptuous she and other pols are of normal people.
Take a vacation to a state that borders the Mississippi river (other than Illinois) that lasts about a week.
Meth-point taken. It was never specified who was listening to whom.
A Hillary listening tour- is a how can you write the Clintons a check tour.
