"Journalism"

First, Trump tweets...

Then, the NYT reacts...
Later, initial evidence show Trump might be right...

The first tweet could have been qualified slightly better because no one really knew for sure what happened at that point (but so what), and it is revealing how the media dogpiled Trump. And the interesting thing is Hillary did the same thing and did not get called on it.

Trump and Clinton called it terrorism

edutcher said...

Eventually.

The world had to agree on it before Cacklepants, who danced around it.

It does appear that it was an act of terrorism. Exactly how, the investigation will have to determine. Once again, it shines a very bright light on the threats that we face from organized terror groups. And I think it reinforces the need for American leadership, the kind of smart, steady leadership that only America can provide in working with our allies, our partners, our friends in Europe, the Middle East and elsewhere.

She wants to go back to Smart Diplomacy and leading out of her behind.

To what April said:

Looks like we know how Hillary suddenly jumped ahead in KY.

Nice to have 4000 votes for the other guy erased.

Feel The Bern.

Journalism is dead in this country. The media outside of Fox and even Fox is wearing their welcome is vastly RMPC and nothing more than state sponsored echo chambers. They are no different than Pravda and Xinhau.

ed, while I disagree that Mitt lost to voter fraud (I don't doubt it existed, but Mitt had his own problems) you are wise to raise the alarm now because the Clintons will do anything to get back into power.

edutcher said...

Evi, they have friends to take the fall. The KY Commissioner of Elections is an Ozark Mafiosa and doubtless set it up.

Nice to know Cleveland's going to be quiet and Philadelphia will probably be wild.

Bryn Mawr won't even be far enough out.

PS We learn Willie and Cacklepants crashed The Donald's wedding, they weren't invited. Apparently, they came, Willie saw, they mooched, and stiffed. Didn't even bring a gift.

They can't even social climb with any class.

The better question is, was it ever alive?

The whole Sally Hemings thing was a press smear against Tom Jefferson.

There is a strain of the conventional wisdom that hates Trump so much that the most mundane things are given a spin just to attack and vilify him.

For example Trump was making a self deprecating joke about himself and Chris Christie by saying they were in a campaign and have to give up eating Oreos. The headline on RedState and various other places in the tank for Hillary was "Trump calls Christie Fat to His Face."

These people have no sense of self-awareness. They do not realize how ridiculous they sound when they spout off nonsense. Trump was just saying what everyone thought. You can tell where he is coming from. I am reminded when they found a bomb in Times Square and Mayor Bloomberg immediately thought it had to be white supremacists like Timothy McVeigh. We know where they are coming from too.

Always blame evil white men and never pin the attacks on the Muslims even when it proven that they did it. See them cutting the heads of aide workers off on a beach talk about the Crusades.

America has had enough of this shit.

Trooper York said...

I was reading someone talk about waiting on line in the airport and looking at the mechanics and baggage handlers and thinking about how easy it would be for a migrant Muslim terrorist to get a menial job there and put a bomb on a plane. France just fired hundreds of workers who had ties to ISIS. There are millions of Americans out of work. Millions of poor black yutes who actually want a job with health care and benefits. Can't we weed out the security risks and give those kids a job? Discriminate? Profile? Be safe?

Or can American just adsorb a few more terrorist attacks just so we could be politically correct?

Evi L. Bloggerlady said...

It is counter productive to get triggered like they are getting triggered. Truth is Christie is a fatty, so what? Is this something new?

And why are there so many Somali women working in airports across the country? Are you telling me that no other Americans are willing to clean aircraft at minimum wage? Why did aircraft cabin cleaning become a job only for Somali immigrant women?

When I travel I will read USA Today. Yesterday they had a front page story about Trump and his finances/taxes. They tried to make a big deal that he had $13k in tax warrants against him. Firstly, I do background checks and routinely find tax warrants against people who own a business. A tax warrant is not a bench warrant. If you get pulled over for speeding the cop isn't going to cuff you for having outstanding tax warrants. If someone doesn't pay a month of unemployment tax, whether they forgot, dispute the amount, whatever.. a tax warrant is issued. Secondly, $13k is NOTHING. I have done backgrounds on biz small owners w/ just a few employees who have tax warrants exceeding $13k. Many people don't know this basic info and could be led astray. This was blatant yellow journalism.

I despise spin, whether it is propagated here, or elsewhere.

ndspinelli said...

The NRA is in a real bad position. They KNOW both Trump and Hillary are east coast haters of guns and the 2nd Amendment, Trump is just less so. Don't go making Trump into some fucking 2nd Amendment lover, that would not be spin, that would be a fucking lie. Good, the NRA got out in front. But, they know Trump could turn on them in a NY minute.

Trooper York said...

I think the advantage Trump has is that he is not afraid to go there.

I have to laugh though.

Today he said "I know why Hillary wants Bill to run the economy. She wants to keep an eye on him."

Now that's funny.

edutcher said...

Actually, what got the economy going was letting George Mitchell's prissy, hare-brained luxury sin tax lapse. As soon as that died, things took off like a rocket until Dot Bomb went off.

And lots of Big City dwellers like firearms. It's got nothing to do with good ol' boys goin' a-huntin' or any of the Amendments (9th has more to with personal protection). It's what makes the commute on public transportation safe.

Methadras said...

Spinelli, as far as I know Trump has been fairly exuberant about the 2A. Am I missing something?

Evi L. Bloggerlady said...

Nick, Trump packs--he is one of the few who can get a CCP in New York City-- and says he is a big 2A guy. I don't trust Trump on the 5th Amendment (condemnation) but I do (reasonably) trust him on the 2nd.

Evi L. Bloggerlady said...

NRA endorses Trump

The Dude said...

Mrs. Clinton has flat out stated she wants to take away our firearms. Given a few SCOTUS picks and she will be able to do just that.

Trump at least pretends to support the second amendment, and that's good enough for me, especially given the alternative.

ndspinelli said...

Meth, A day after Sandy Hook Obama played the emotion, gun hating card, never wanting to let a disaster go by w/o playing his agenda. Obama said there is "no excuse for inaction." Trump tweeted on 12/17/12, a day after, ""President Obama spoke for me and every American in his remarks on Newtown." Well, I know Obama didn't speak for me.

We have discussed guns here and elsewhere. I have family and friends out east who are quite conservative but are for gun control. There's not much of a hunting culture. I was anti gun until I moved out of the northeast. It's something folks who have not lived in the northeast have a problem grasping.

Sixty sums it up well in his 6:19p comment comparing Clinton and Trump on guns. If we were to do the proverbial 2nd Amendment 1-10 scale, Scalia was a 10. Clinton is a 1, Trump is a 5. And yes, 5 is much better than 1.

edutcher said...

Maybe Trump came to the same realization as you.

ndspinelli said...

You know, with some folks you can't just say Trump is much better than Hillary on guns. You can't just say I'm voting for Trump. You have to genuflect. Well, I genuflect for no one. Trump has come to "realizations" on many topics, just in time for the election. I will pull the lever for Trump, but I will do so w/ a clear head and eyes opened. I am not Sgt. Schultz.

edutcher said...

We're all aware of his flaws and have said so, each in our own way, so the idea we're just too, too worshipful for words is really nonsense.

Bleach Drinkers Curing Coronavirus Together said...

The NYT really is getting dumber and dumber by the minute. Does he have to "cite evidence" to say what something "looks like?" Yes, I think a plane blowing out of the sky after departing from a European port with lax security to an Arab destination where a secular military government is targeted by al Qaeda looks like terrorism to me, too.

But at least they have the important things to argue about. At some point this journalistic lynch mob will backfire mightily.

Look I recognize that Trump is the giant warty candidate, but I can deal with his warts. Capiche?
