Our president

Vine. It's a seconds-long video that speaks volumes.

Entirely off topic, but just as an alert (succinctly, not trying to share what all I've been watching so far):

Breaking news reporting that there have been explosions in Brussels, with deaths etc. Airport for sure, but also there have been references to other stuff happening re: other mass trans, apart from everything being shut down, but so far there's been little to bear out those references, so far. Little confirmed, meaning few hard facts, but I suspect, due to coverage in sources from elsewhere, that it's more likely than not to be worse than so far reported. CANNOT CONFIRM THAT. Suspicion, only.

As far as the proximity of these attacks to the capture of the terrorist connected to the Paris terrorist attacks ... well.

It appears to me, so far, that reference to "metro station" is limited to, perhaps even "only," something connected to the airport itself, a metro station connected to or near there. AGAIN, NO FACTS, CANNOT CONFIRM THAT. Please note: By my using such terms as "limited to" or " 'only', " I do not mean, nor do I intend, to diminish the obvious tragedy and outrage that's been perpetrated by terrorists. At the same time, I don't want unwarranted fear to overtake warranted fear, on account of earlier, unclear, breaking-news sharing... . As I noted a "caveat" then, I do so still right now.

THAT SAID, I do stand by my instinct earlier that this is worse than what so far has been reported, in terms of injury toll and death.

(And, yes, of course I think that there is more going on that we can know now, right this very instant. That is always true, it has always been true, without exception.)

Something I've always said: "Breaking news" is a great-truth-in-advertising label: It means that the information is likely to be broken and therefore not to be clung to. It's raw information, flooding out in real time, mostly unfiltered. How much can/should/ought anyone expect from it?

---

That said, we are relieved to have gotten a message from someone with whom my husband works closely on a whole number of projects, on a daily basis, and who just traveled to Brussels, thankfully a day earlier (we weren't sure of the timing). Yo! Oh, yeah!--and something for which to be very thankful and grateful, amidst all the nasty stuff.

That's gay.

Dear corrupt left, go F yourselves said...

Obama smiling with a man who, along with his disgusting vile piece of shit murdering bother, has kept the Cuban people poor and in line and often in jail. The democrats spooge over this idea.

Obama smiles with dictator for life. Up next - Obama praises Hillary, his corrupt successor.

Democrats love communism. Democrats love corrupt for-life dictators who live in splendor while their people are forced to comply.

*but but but - free health care!

The Castro brothers should be arrested and shot for their crimes. Instead, we have Obama and his big smile.

If we could travel in time 50 years ago, show that clip on the news, and tell the country that that would be the President of the United States someday, would it change anything?

Stupid Communists. If not for them, Cuba today would be a shining prosperous jewel in the Caribbean. All the money and energy that went into Las Vegas, Miami, and Cancun would be there with plenty of well paid jobs, luxurious infrastructure and open society. Nobody blows opportunity like leftists. An ideology of absolute failure yet even today we have one doing quite well running for President among our maleducated youth. Our universities are a disaster.

Hussein is as brutal as Raoul but the package deceives millions.

It's the shit-eating grin that irks. What a doof. But I think he was right to go. The Cubans need trade and tourism, and when the Castros are gone Cuba will be poised for an easy transition to democracy, whatever that means.

No, but 55 years would.

The fact that Castro felt comfortable putting his hands on the President of the United States and physically manipulating him is more telling than the limp wrist. The internet says that Cuban slang for pussy is papaya. Castro knows one when he sees one.

deborah said...

Okay, but wasn't it the Castros being manipulated/flattered/pandered to? Fidel must be in really bad shape.

Another deep gnostic comment from Meadeschmuck.

We're propping up a failed state and their dictator is propping up our failed puppet.
Win-win. (Lose-lose.)
