"If artists were suddenly not allowed to use looks and sexuality..."

"to promote their brand and albums, which artists would fail and be quickly forgotten?"

I feel like "boy bands" wouldn't be a thing, since image/sexuality seem to feature so heavily in their promotion and fanbase.

On the country side of things, 90% of the Nash-trash pop-country stars would be forgotten immediately. Almost all of the Red Dirt/Texas Country artists would survive as most of them are a little hard to look at.

Just about all of them.

Name a woman singer, actress, etc. that wouldn't be beheaded.

"Name a woman...":
Phoebe Snow
Bette Midler
Tracy Chapman
Barbra Streisand
Mama Cass
Boy George

It's actually more the women who insist on looks and sexuality before joining the fan club. Men always see the inner person, because we are deep and substantive people, every single one of us.

They would all fade away into obscurity and no one would care. They have to be in your face to get your money. I wonder if Rick Ross thinks his thug life has been worth it. So long niggah.

Popular music is music + image so taking away image does thin the herd a lot. KD is the bomb regardless of her looks. That voice. There are a lot of male pop musicians, I'm thinking 1970s-80s rockers, who are/were quite extraordinarily sketchy in the looks department but they could play and/or sing and/or write so it didn't matter.
