"Al Gore: Punish climate-change deniers"

"For the third time in the last few years, Al Gore, founder and chairman of the Climate Reality Project, spoke at the festival on Friday. Naturally, his interactive discussion focused on addressing the climate crisis. The former vice president focused on the need to “punish climate-change deniers, saying politicians should pay a price for rejecting ‘accepted science,’” said the Chicago Tribune."

"Gore said forward-thinking investors are moving away from companies that invest in fossil fuels and towards companies investing in renewable energy. “We need to put a price on carbon to accelerate these market trends,” Gore told the Chicago Tribune, referring to a proposed federal cap-and-trade system that would penalize companies that exceeded their carbon-emission limits. “And in order to do that, we need to put a price on denial in politics.” (read more)

That's a lot of punishment. Will he punish his own fleet of private 737s?

People have been punishing one another over the use of scarce resources for many, many thousands of years.

I don't know that we ever talked so much about it, though.

Hey, Al. Describe what climate change means. Seems to me that climate change has always been around. It isn't going to be as warm today as it was yesterday. It will however, be warmer than it was 15,000 years ago when there were glaciers here.

Thank GOD for climate change.

Yes punish us. Send us to live on warm tropical coastlines right next to the rising oceans. Just see how we like that. We need to learn what horror awaits us up close and personal.

Margaritas please.

My fear is these climate zealots are going to exhaust the skeptics until they get their way.

Fear and intimidation is their stock in trade.

Once somebody like Al Gore, who, whether we like it or not, has parlayed his political notoriety into wealth and fame, says 'I think people ought to be punish'... it's only a matter of time.

It's going to happen in short order.

I wish Al could meet a bat made from recycled sustainable wood that came from a free range pesticide free organic commune to his bulb shaped head.

Al would love to have his own climate enforcing agency with the authority to make laws and punish people. I'd hate to see him acquire that kind of power but he does seem to be trying to.

Frankly, hearing that Al Gore died in some fashion would be a good day.

If there is ANY poetic justice in this world, the Goracle will die of hypothermia. Or slip and fall into an oil well which is where is real fortune, the one he's currently exploiting, comes from. He can take Tom Steyer with him. Fucking oil barons.
