"A United Airlines flight en route from Chicago to California with 101 passengers aboard made an unscheduled stop late Sunday in Wichita, Kansas, after the Boeing 737's emergency evacuation chute accidentally opened."
Public safety personnel at Wichita's Mid-Continent Airport said the slide deployed in the cabin of Flight 1463, KAKE-TV reports. The plane, which was flying from Chicago's O'Hare airport to the John Wayne Airport near Los Angeles, landed at Wichita airport around 10:30 p.m.
A statement from the airlines said there were no injuries and the plane flight landed safely, ABC News reports.

There was a place... if only briefly moment... where a tired mother could send her kids.
Having ridden on a few of them, it doesn't really surprise me.
I always had the feeling we'd be stopping off in Guatemala or someplace to drop off a weapons cache, as they have a kind of fly-by-night feel to them.
The real problems started when the stewardesses started getting the passengers to get on the chutes.

Remember Stewie the flight attendant who told off an entire planeload of passengers and crew then grabbed a beer, deployed the chute (the plane was at the gate) and slid into early retirement? Perhaps this was a case of premature ejaculation?
