WLEM AM

Where we play it as it lays.

What's the deal, my dears?

I like the music, but the visuals are distracting.

She can shake her booty.

She's a little light on the top, but I give her a big round of applause for not having a pair of beach balls surgically attached to her chest.

The music is surprisingly good, and I like the South American beat.

I listen to everybody because I'm always learning songs for gigs. Got to play for the kids, because who else goes out at night?

Played a Lady Gaga tune that I liked a couple of months ago. Poker Face. It's a very pointed comment on what it's like to be a young woman looking for love in the age of porn.

If Poker Face is what Lady Gaga has going, then Shakira is a lot better. I'm not a fan of the industrial rock thing.

The thing I miss about music today is the music. Way too much vocals and gratuitous sexuality. Give me a BAND that plays instruments and sings some.

Try closing your eyes, Haz :)

Shout, very surprised to hear you doing a Gaga song. Don't care for her music, it seems to sound mostly the same, but I think her one song/music vid is fabulous. I'm sure you've heard it, Bad Romance .

I hear ya, Dadvocate. I guess I'm more forgiving of pop music than some.

I remember I was in a small takeout place when I heard Hips Don't Lie. I nearly fell on the floor, ran home to find out who that was.

Some songs you remember the first time you heard 'em.

Good topic for a thread, someone! "Where were you when you first heard your favorite song(s)"

She's a little light on the top,...

...so as not to confuse you with mountains.

How did you do that in the old days -- before the internet?

I'd blog the topic you suggest, but truth be told I can't remember exactly when and where I was the first I heard half of my favorites. Songs grow on me. These days, they seep in until I suddenly ask "who is that?"

Can we get music without the tired Britney spears dance routine? At least this gal can sing.

phx, I agree with chick. It's hard to remember where you first heard a song, like say, American Pie. You just heard it and loved it.

April, I honestly don't know how Britney dances/danced. My exposure to Britney was from CDs in the early 2000s, or so, when my daughter was a fan, and I enjoyed a good bit of her stuff also.

I am partial to the style dancing Shakira is doing here. I want to teach myself a little hula...I had the basic shake down for a while, and now must refresh my memory!

But I will try not to overexpose the over-sexed dance aspect of a lot of videos.
